Snow Cone Syrup II

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2007
I have worked in a snow ball stand, which is what we called snow cone stands in New Orleans. This is the recipie they all use. Also you can use this for Italian soda. Just add a shot glass of the syrup to soda water and cream. Also if you want a vanilla or amaretto flavor omit the koolaide and add extract according to strength.

Rock Candy

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2007
I would give this zero stars if I could. Rock candy is supposed to be a supersaturated solution when you mix the sugar and water together. That means you should have more sugar than water not equal amounts of both. Of course, when you leave sugar water out it feeds bacteria, just like if you would leave meat out. The main thing is to try to make sure everything is as sanitized as possible and go for a recipe that has a sugar:water ratio of 2:1.

Greek Tzatziki

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2007
I used this recipie as the base, I omitted the lemon rind, cucumber rind and olive oil. I replaced the yogurt with sour cream thined it out with some milk, and used lemon juice in place of the rind. I chopped up cucumbers and put them in the sauce and added Goat Feta Cheese. The goat feta made the flavor so authentic.

Kristen's Brown Sugar Crepe Filling

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2007
I tried this in my crepes. It was ok, I didn't have bananas and I added pecans to the filling. It was..ok. It was kinda runny, maybe cream cheese would be better then sour cream.

Classic Tiramisu

Reviewed: May 2, 2004
Sometimes, it's a lot easier just to substitute. Tiramisu creators have used ricotta or cottage cheese as successful substitutes by whipping the cheese until it is smooth.

Pita Pizza

Reviewed: May 2, 2004
This is a great ans versitile recipie, you can also just take the pita and brush it with olive oil and add toppings or instead replace tomato sauce with alfredo. I used to make thesse for my high school lunch topped with all kinda of healthy steamed veggies and motzerella cheese. This is not for an elegant dinner, just a change from the plain old turkey sandwhich for bag lunches.

Seven Layer Dip I

Reviewed: May 2, 2004
To spice it up a bit: *add taco seasoning to the ground meat *thin out refired beans with water and season with 1/4 cup onion and 2 strips of bacon *Use fresh pico de gallo in place of salsa and up the amount to 2 cups *use 16 oz of sour cream *make a hearty guacamole with 5 ripe avacados, juice of 2 limes, salt and a few chopped tomatoes, dont puree the avacado just mash it *I like to layer it this way too: 1seasoned meat,2refried beans mixture, 3fresh pico de gallo, 4guacamole, 5sour cream, 6cheese, 7black olives and green onion. Serve with hearty tortilla chips!

Bacon Spinach Salad

Reviewed: May 2, 2004
I used to make salads for a cafe. If you want to have this salad as an entree I would suggest you make the spinach your base add julliene raw carrots and purple cabbage (sometimes sold prepared in baggie at grocery),then some cherry tomatoes, next topped with grilled chicken breast marinated in poppyseed dressing, then finally topped with the bacon, chopped pecans, blue cheese and place the thinly sliced red onion rings around the salad.
