Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2010
I was out of black beans, so I used black-eyed peas and found it very remeniscent of falafel. Mine fell apart quite easily when I tried to flip them so I would add another egg next time. I like the spice in these burgers, but my children wouldn't eat them. My husband thought they were ok, but I am quite accustomed to the taste of veggie burgers and thought they were good. My husband says he would rather the patties in a pita with tzatziki sauce and veggies. Either way, we will use this recipe again.

Maple-Vanilla Syrup

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2009
So easy and tasty! I liked it better than storebought. I was a little worried because I had no corn syrup or maple flavoring, but it worked fine without and still tasted great! Can't wait to try it again with all of the ingredients!

Pope's Valentine Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
These cokies turned out nice and soft, but I felt they were a little lacking in flavor. The dough was too dry to form a ball and so I had to double the liquid. I added lemon juice as well for a little flavor. With those small changes, the cookies turned out yummy. I also found the recipe very simple, which is a bonus when you are making them with 5 little children!

Decadent Chocolate Orange Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2007
Just perfect!!!! After reading others reviews, I was a little nervous because I am not a fan of marmalade and was worried that the cake would taste too much like it. Not the case at all. I followed the recipe exactly and served it for company. I did, however, take the advice of other readers and add canned mandarins for appearance and flavor, and it was awesome that way. Everyone raved. Not only does it look fabulous, but the individual layers and flavors are so well balanced. The cream cheese frosting went perfectly with the chocolate ganache and the orange cake. And none of it is too sweet, which I really appreciate. It takes a bit of time to prepare, but not too much, and it certainly isn't difficult. We will definitely be having this again.
