Orange Chicken stir-fry with white rice and Asian slaw. I'm a baker and love adding new flavors to standard cake batter and cookie batter.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Slow oven baked stew, tons of flavor but I alternate between beef and pork. Luscious orange glazed pork roast with mash potatoes and gravy and marinated carrots. Love to bake cakes, cookies and sweet breads (Zucchini today!)
My cooking triumphs
Perfecting an 'as you go' teriyaki chicken recipe I invented on the fly with little inspiration from any recipes - I just didn't care for some of the ingredients I saw. I add apple juice or pineapple juice and honey to mine - apple cider vinegar instead of others, add fresh minced garlic and fresh grated ginger and finish it off with a tiny bit of sesame oil to round out the flavors. Soy sauce is a staple in our home, even though we are Irish!
My cooking tragedies
Forgetting to put the sugar in a recipe, we hated the cookies - flat, dry and salty with cardboard texture - AWFUL!
