Tart Lemon Triangles

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
This recipe was very good, but WAY too sweet! I couldn't even finish one slice. If I were to make it again I would cut the sugar in half and add more lemon zest to make it more of a tart triangle instead of a cup of sugar triangle. For reference, I found about 1 TBL zest to be one lemon and 1/4 cup juice to be about one lemon so it worked out well.

Baked Buffalo Wings

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
Loved it! These are actually the best wings I've had in a long time although many people would say they're not real wings because they're not fried. I found the wings to be very mild though and for anyone looking for any spice make sure to add more cayenne and make the ratio of hot sauce to butter higher on the hot sauce end. Will definitely be making again with more heat!

Beer Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
Easiest... recipe... ever. To spice it up a bit I made one batch with honey butter on top and one batch with 1 tsp rosemary and 3/4 tsp garlic powder and about a handful of parmesean cheese with more cheese sprinkled on top. The tops become very, very crusty upon cooking. I let mine cool mostly and then put them in ziploc bags. This distributes moisture and makes them less crusty. Pro Tip: I made these in a muffin pan and they were great individual little loaves!

Christmas Wreaths

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
Make sure to double, triple, quadruple this recipe! I think I made about four batches four days in a row around Christmas and just made some the other day with some leftover marshmallows I had in the pantry. These things are ridiculously delicious although I don't care for the red hots. I picked them off and used them for decoration only. I did not have any problem with the mixture cooling too quickly, in fact, it did not cool quickly enough and people were griping about having to wait to eat them!

Famous Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
My boyfriend says this may be one of the best things I've cooked so far. It's relatively easy to make too! Of course, make sure to serve with some comfort sides like mashed potatoes, corn and buttered bread!

Ham and Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
Of my favorite foods to eat. One time I forgot the brown sug completely but it still turned out ok. I definitely recommend the sugar though. I always just used canned beans and it turns out just fine. The only thing I would recommend (if you're going the canned bean route since you don't have to cook it as long) is to sautee the onions separately before you add them or they will be too firm/flavorless which throws off the texture of the dish and made it unpleasant.

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
Yum! I didn't have any onions and I had no idea what dry mustard was so I just made honey, butter, pepper potatoes and they were the best part of the meal!

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
I get asked to make this recipe at least once a week by my boyfriend/friends I think but have to reserve it to more like bi-weekly to keep it a special treat! I use packaged brown gravy on the beef instead of the flour/ketchup/beef broth mixure (because I'm lazy) and just use whatever canned veggies I have at home, usually one can of corn and one of green beans. It makes it more like semi-homemade but I do always make my own mashed potatoes.

Southwestern Chicken and Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
Super easy. I also add a can of drained black beans and just substitute in your favorite salsa. My favorite is the double roasted from trader joe's.

Sweet Corn Tomalito

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
Don't let the long list of ingredients intimidate you! I easily found all the ingredients at local grocey chain store. I don't have a food processor and I do have a blender but it's still in the box and I waas too lazy to get it out because I was in a hurry. I used drained, canned corn and only one can. The microwave directions were perfect. Microwaved it for 9 minutes at 90% power (although my sister inadvertantly set the microwave for 50 minutes which could have been a disaster...)
