About this Cook
My husband and I have owned two restaurants, one a Deli and the other a sit down "mom and pop" restaurant. After the second burned to the ground, I started catering one the side of my full time job (not restaurant related) and love it. We have three children (2 boys--14 and 9 and a girl--5). I try many recipies out from this website and serve them to my family as well as my customers. Of course I can never completely follow a recipe, as I have to put my own "flavor" to it ;-)
My favorite things to cook
I have so many favorites... I guess my favorite things are hours d'eouvre's. I can completely go crazy thinking up new recipies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents were raised Old Mennonite (similar to the Amish) so I grew up around home cooked meals. Everytime the family would get together, my Grandmother, Mother and now I make a recipe called "Fluff." It's kind of a kid's favorite but I still love it.
My cooking triumphs
I made a seven course meal for a business this Christmas. For the 1st course I made a Artichoke Shiitake Mushroom Cannelloni Lasagna Appetizer that I was more proud of than anything I've made to date. Of course, cooking is all about presentation, you know.
My cooking tragedies
I'm really not very good at baking breads. Everytime I try, they seem to fall or are too dense. My mother did not let me in the kitchen when she was baking breads, so I never got the hang of it, plus being in the restaurant business, I know what kind of wonderful frozen or par baked products there are out there.

Mexicali Beer Margaritas
I make this in the summer all the time. I call it "Summer Brew." Sometimes I use Lime flavored vodka instead of tequila and add 2 Corona's & serve it over crushed ice. YUMMY!

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style
I think this is the best spinach artichoke recipe I've tried. The alfredo sauce adds just the right amount of moisture and flavor (not as dry as others I've tried). I love cheese, so I added some Montery Jack as well.

Raspberry Almond Coffeecake
Very yummy! I have used this recipe several times. It's also good with blackberries.
