Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2014
This tasted great! I only changed a few measurements based on other reviews to get closer to our taste, but kept all ingredients the same. The whole family truly enjoyed this and we will be making it again. Thanks for the great recipe!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2014
Good dip. I thought it was a bit strong but my boyfriend loved it. Served with both tortilla chips and pita chips.

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2014
We didn't feel it tasted like Salisbury steak, it was more like a meatloaf patty. The patty was moist and good. I cooked 4 hours on low. Will make this again.

Bananas Foster II

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2014
OH MY...This was fabulous! I didn't use this as dessert...instead I made it for breakfast and used it to top some wonderful cream cheese stuffed toast with the vanilla ice cream and some powdered sugar. It was beautiful and was gobbled up by the family in mere minutes. The recipe for the cream cheese stuffed toast was not from this site, but I encourage trying it this way. You will not be disappointed!!

Strawberry Angel Food Dessert

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2014
This dessert is so yummy and super easy! At the suggestion of another reviewer I added a teaspoon of vanilla to the cream cheese mixture to give it some added flavor. Also, I could not find strawberry glaze and didn't want to make my own, so I bought a can of strawberry pie filling and mixed that with the strawberries instead and it came out great. I will be making this for all of our summer parties this year.

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: May 31, 2014
This was wonderful! Made exactly as written except that we cut it in half as it's just 2 adults and a 5 year old, and we doubled the tortillas as suggested to avoid sogginess. It was more than enough with left overs. Served with tomatoes and sour cream. Didn't find that this needs any adjustments to be a great dish. This will become a regular in the house. Thank you!

Guacamole

Reviewed: May 31, 2014
This was just OK for me. I must have done something wrong as I found it to be a bit bland. I tasted too much onion and other than that it just seemed a bit bland. That and I don't know if I didn't add enough lime but mine started turning dark after a day covered in the fridge. I gave 4 stars instead of less on the possibility some of the problems may have been "operator error" so to speak. Probably will try again with some of the others suggestions for adjustment.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: May 31, 2014
This was a good version of chicken and dumplings. I wish the consistency had a bit more of a "sauciness" to it. For me it was a little too thick and sticky but other than that the flavor was fine and it was a super easy version to enjoy.

Chef John's Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: May 31, 2014
A good deviled egg recipe. Lost one star for me as I like a bit of sweetness with the yolk mixture and the pepper would add that except it was just a bit more effort than I wanted to put into a deviled egg. Other than that I am sure most would find this variation quite tasty.

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: May 19, 2014
Made this for a dinner party and it was really tasty and well liked. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of five was a lot of liquid pooled in the container that I had to dump out. Possibly it was from the salsa and I need a chunkier salsa. Not sure but other than that it was a hit and will make again.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: May 19, 2014
This was really tasty and so easy. I was skeptical at first as I have never made Ziti without ricotta cheese, but this came out great and I didn't miss it at all. I made 2 batches, one with the meat and one without as I was hosting a few that do not like meat and both versions got great reviews. Will make again.

Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 9, 2014
Very good dish. I am a huge fan of peppers and love all the beautiful colors and flavor. I also love broccoli so even though the recipe didn't call for it I had to add some. I made it on a Saturday and my boyfriend and I had it polished off by Tuesday. Great as a side or I find it good as a lunch dish.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: May 9, 2014
This is soooo good! First, I like to try the recipe exactly as written, so I put in the chicken, seasoning, and butter and cooked as written. Honestly, do not put the soup in in the beginning...the chicken will not have the flavors cooked into it as intended if you do and I feel the flavor will be more dull. There was plenty of natural juices with the butter to cook the chicken without drying. After 5 hours I put in the whole chunk of softened cream cheese with the soup and stirred. Now at this point I made 1 adjustment only because I felt the mixture was thicker than I would like, so I added 1/3 cup chicken broth and let it cook for a half hour. It was amazing! No leftovers as we ate ourselves sick! Will definitely make again.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars IV

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
Ok, so these as written were not so great. I am rating this way on the recipe as is. It can be a lot better with the suggestions of other reviewers as far as the chocolate topping being better and not crumbling off. If you follow the directions as is, the topping breaks off and tastes gross. You definitely need to use a milk chocolate or at least a mix of the two and also follow the suggestions of others on how to get them out of the pan without breaking. Will make again with a lot of the suggestions from others.

Apple Squares

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
Well, I wanted to love these, but just thought they were ok. Let me say that I did like the taste overall. The problem was like some other reviewers, Mine did not come out like bars. After cooling in pan as directed I found the outsides to be a harder consistency and the inside to be a bit too moist and gooey. Possibly if I had cooked them a bit longer, but then I fear the outside would have been too hard. Too bad because the taste was good, but I needed them to serve in bars as finger food, not on a plate with a fork.

Russian Tea Cakes I

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
First time I have ever made these and this recipe came out great. They were just the perfect texture that I remember when my grandmother used to make these. I do not at all understand those whose came out crumbly or flat. I did this recipe 100% by the ingredients and instructions and they came out perfect. Once my dough is mixed I do mold it and pat it into a nice ball first to eliminate working with the crumbly dough. Then I just rip off an amount that is right and roll in my hands. The reviewer who stated butter has to be super soft, is also spot on. The butter has to be very very soft but not melted for the dough to have a less crumbly texture. All I can say is give this a try, these were great! Thank you for the recipe!

Jam Filled Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
These were absolutely delightful cookies. I only made 1 minor change after reading other reviews that the dough was bland. I added 1/4 tsp almond extract to the dough. Other than that I made it exactly how the recipe stated and they were super tasty! Great recipe.

Homestyle Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2013
Stuffed peppers have been one of my favorite dishes for years and this recipe did not disappoint. I made them for my boyfriend and I and we both enjoyed them. I did make a few changes to cater more to my tastes. I fried my chopped onion in butter and added a tsp of chopped garlic to that. I also added a dash of Emeril's essence for some flavor. I also made more sauce and added some to the meat mixture inside the pepper so there was cooked in tomato flavor throughout. I think the changes I made were pretty minor and the recipe is probably still great as is. Thanks for the wonderful recipe!
