I have been cooking since about 1980, when I started working for a French restaurant, where I learned quite a bit, even though I worked there as a dishwasher. I had been curious of how to make sauces such as hollandaise sauce, among others.
My favorite things to cook
I specialize in replicating restaurant recipes and cooking gourmet meals. I have just begun to explore baking, especially breads, since I just obtained a bread machine. However, with the machine, I have begun only to use it to make the dough. I also can grill.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have cooked a smoked salmon meal on the grill, using liquid smoke, mayonnaise and other ingredients, whenever I visit my family. My favorite cooking tradition is prime rib. Also, for the last two Thanksgiving days, I have smoked my turkey, which really yielded some raves from my family and friends.
My cooking triumphs
I would say the smoked turkey was my best cooking triumph, as are my prime rib, which I have been perfecting over the last 20 years. I have also perfected the technique in making hollandaise sauce.
My cooking tragedies
There have been times when I have overcooked or even burned some food, most notably a couple of steaks on the grill, and yellow rice in the pressure cooker. But in the recent years I have always been trying to cook something new, often times without success.
