Hummingbird Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2014
I have made this exact recipe for years, accept for the black walnuts, I like English. I bought this generic cream cheese and froze it. When I made the icing it was grainy, so don't use cheap cream cheese. I am going to make this cake in loaf pans without the icing and pretend it's banana bread. I can't find a good banana bread recipe so will try this as one, I think it'll pass. It is so moist, it's my favorite to make and to eat. Thanks!

Sarah's Applesauce

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2014
This recipe is great, so easy, so fast. I didn't realize how easy it was to make applesauce. I just put it in a Tupperware dish and put in the fridge. I am so much more apt to eat homemade than store bought. Thanks so much, I should have done this a long time ago.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2013
I love easy new crock recipes. This had so few items and you just throw them in and stir,so I threw this together practically on my way out the door to work, that's how easy it was to prepare. It was a little burnt when I got home, it was on for 8hrs at least, on low. I used the cream cheese but I believe it would have been better with sour cream. The onion soup mix I put in as per many other cooks here, made it taste better but the burnt taste over powered it. I also think a little wine would have improved the taste, it was a little bit bland. Because of the ease of preparation I probably will make it again but not for so long.

Creamy Coconut Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2013
I am always looking for easy recipes. This is a wonderful cake but soooo sweet. I did make some changes. First of all i left out the condensed milk due to the can i had being 5 yrs old. I added 2 mashed bananas and a small can of crushed pineapple. I used an 8 oz container of cool whip. It was really good. Will make it again and again. Thanks!

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2014
I have this same recipe, it is great. This one, though, says to use 2 tsp of soda. Mine calls for 1. Love it, I make it for gifts. It's called Christmas loaf.

The Best Banana Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2014
I only had two ripe bananas so threw in a big spoon of chunky applesauce, with some walnuts and put a little salt in as well. I used real butter, unsalted. It is a basic recipe which I like. Few ingredients making it fast and easy. I can add choco chips, or whatever I want to it and make it different every time. Liked it.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2014
I couldn't wait to tell you, I am eating the cake right now and it's been so long since I have eaten a true pound cake that I am in heaven. Great cake! I put a little in a loaf pan but the bulk is in my bundt pan, still baking, but lookin good. I was afraid it would come over the edge and I have a new stove, and am trying to keep it clean, hence the two pans. I let the small pan cool a little bit. At first touch it felt like it was not going to set but at last it did. Although, when I turned it out it came out it didn't come out in one piece. That's ok, I will eat it. :). I did put a pinch of soda, 1/2 tsp of baking powder, and the same in salt. Very good. A little crunchy outside, very soft inside, and no need for icing at all.

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2013
I'm glad to see the recipe I've used before. I couldn't remember where I put the recipe I had so thought I would check "allrecipes". I love this site. This is the exact one that I make, but I put plenty of cheese on top. The reason I like this recipe so much is that when you need a simple and so easy side, this is always a winner. Making this tomorrow for Christmas. :)

Super-Easy Rocky Road Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2013
It was the easiest candy I have ever made. It is very rich, but I like that. I am sending it to my son who lives in another state, and I was worried it would melt, but it's Dec and very cold so should be ok. He will love it, he is single and loves anything I make. I appreciate the recipe, it's good in pinch. I made it at the same time I was making cookies. Easy, easy, easy! Good stuff!

Baked Macaroni and Cheese III

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2013
I got up early this morning to make this for our office Christmas party. I have made mac n cheese many times but still have not found the kind that browns on top and is creamy. This one was a little dry and bland. It was something I did, I'm sure. I started throwing it together and realized it didn't call for making a rue. I hadn't seen that before, but it didn't seem to matter, it thickened up, I wish I had put more milk in it. I used carnation and milk. I also used some gouda with the sharp cheddar. I put crushed ritz on top with melted butter. I also put some minced garlic and dry mustard in it.

Sausage and Cornbread Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2013
I only give 4 stars because I didn't actually eat any, I took it to work for Christmas last year, but had to leave sick before we ate. I heard it was good, it looked good, and was very easy to make. I am making it again tomorrow for our dinner this year. I will check back after I get some of it. :)

Fresh Apple Cake II

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2013
I was skeptical that it only called for 2 cps flour with the same amount of sugar, and just a small amount of oil. It was too dry to even stir with the recipe as is so I added a little milk and some applesauce. I am trying to cut back on the oil and applesauce works great. I turned the oven down to 325 and baked it for about an hour and 1/2. It is very dense, and full of flavor. I like that. The apples are just done enough. I really like it. I forgot the nuts, though. I was nervous about the ingredient ratios. All in all, it's good. I will make it again. Thanks

Quick Yeast Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2013
I have a good bread recipe but it's one that is laborious. This one seemed that it would be easy and I wanted to try it with my new Kitchen Aid mixer. Well, they didn't raise and were doughy inside, and heavy.

Super Simple Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2013
For ease these are great, for flavor, not the best but would be really good with gravy and with some jelly. Didn't need extra butter and liked the crunchy outside and moist inside. Very dense. I threw in a little sugar. I'm not the best at tweaking recipes so I really appreciate the changes that some people make on recipes. Gives me ideas that I would not have thought of. So, thanks for the easy good recipe and thanks to the positive changes some have made.I definitely will make again. :)

I make mine like that except for the spices. I also brown them a little bit in "bacon grease" before adding the sugar. Add sugar then put on the lid, turn fire down to simmer, let simmer for about 20 miniutes.........and yummy. THanks for the recipes, i will try the spices.

Simple Slow Cooker Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2013
This is the kind of meal you have all the ingredients in your pantry. I had everything but forgot the worcheshire and brown sugar, but it was still pretty good. I will add green beans next time. I didn't need to add salt, and used 1 can of soup.

Peanut Butter Cookies VIII

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2013
I used a butter cake, 3 eggs, water and peanut butter. It turned out to be a cake consistency so I made it as a cake. I also added peanut butter extract, hocolate chips and iced with a butter cream icing. Not too bad but was looking for a simple, easy cookie recipe that I could make at a moments notice. I will try it again, with 2 eggs and more peanut butter and less water.
