Some Things Never Change

If you have read my previous blogs you will see that in the past six months or so I have found a new passion with cooking.  Now that is not to say that I haven't experimented with a recipe here and there over the years but I mostly stayed with what I knew.

With the addition of the "magic stove" and my Kindle by my side I have unleashed something inside of me that I didn't know was there.  I have two children a son who recently turned 27 and my daughter who will be 25 on Sunday.  I was so excited this year to ask her what she wanted me to make for her birthday dinner.  I told her to pick anything - feel free to go to my Allrecipes.com site and find something - I am not afraid!

Lo and behold she says to me "I want Grandma's Italian Chicken and Potatoes".  I couldn't believe my ears - she had to be kidding me right?  I thought is she trying to take it easy on me?  What gives?  I reminded her that her birthday falls on Father's Day this year and although their Dad passed way eleven years ago and we really don't celebrate it too much, my husband has been their stepdad since 1998.  She said "I know but that's what I want."

So I guess the oldies are still goodies and the heart wants what the heart wants.  Feel free to try my Mother"s Italian Chicken and Potatoes >>>it"s in my recipes and its very easy to make and best of all everything is done in one dish _ who can argue with that!

Guess I will have to wait until next years birthdays as we are done for the year _ oh well

My daughter (who will be 28 in Aug.) sticks with the good old regulars for her special day. My son (who just turned 24) is the one that always wants something different. Last year he chose a "fair theme" for his meal. We had corndogs, fries with malt vinegar, funnel cakes and I even found "dipping dots". I made homemade lemonade like you get at fairs, too. It's always an adventure with my Steve around!

Very nice blog entry. Nice to be reminded from time-to-time the oldies are still very good.

Wow I better not show my daughter your comment or she will definitely change her dinner choice to your fair theme! I enjoyed reading your blogs yesterday. Keep them coming.
