Gyros Burgers

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2013
I agree with some others that the flavor is okay. We followed recipe exactly EXCEPT we didn't have savory. Not sure if that would make a HUGE difference but none of the grocery stores around here had it. I am sure the local Amish store will have some. I think that it would be better too if the spices were doubled? Bought some more expensive pitas (in the bakery section) along with a tzatziki sauce recipe on here called Molly's Mouthwatering Tzatziki Cucumber Sauce.

Molly's Mouthwatering Tzatziki Cucumber Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2013
Followed recipe exactly with the exception of adding 1/2 more cucumber. When first making it I added everything together EXCEPT for the garlic. I tasted it and it didn't taste right. I thought maybe some more salt and pepper but that didn't do it either. I asked my husband to taste it and he said it needed the garlic. I kind of rolled my eyes thinking the garlic wasn't going to make that much of a difference. HOLY SMOKES was I wrong. The 2 cloves garlic made EVERY bit of difference. I think this would be better too if made the day before so the flavors have time to blend. Already made up a recipe card for this! Thank you!

Cream Corn Like No Other

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2013
Followed recipe exactly. Hubby said this is the best tasting cream corn he has ever had. With that kind of a comment it gets a 5 star rating! Thank you!

Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2013
This was okay. I think with some alterations it could be good. It was a bit dry. Maybe needed a dipping sauce? The chicken was so tender that you could cut it with your fork.

Jim's Salmon Patties

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2012
LOVED this recipe! Followed recipe exactly. I have made salmon patties before but they were on the dry side. I was told by my mother-in-law to buy the cans of boneless, skinless salmon that were the same size as tuna cans. This time I bought a 14.5 oz can (brand name Demings)of salmon. You do have to take time to pick off some of the skin, the bones, etc but it was worth the time to me. It wasn't dry but very moist and had a much better flavor. Adding recipe to our recipe box!! Thank you.

Indian Chicken Curry (Murgh Kari)

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2012
Followed recipe exactly with the exception of the lemon juice at the end- didn't use it at all. My kids LOVED it but they are weird. They BEG us for Indian food, eat broccoli, etc! Hubby said it is 4.5 stars as it was very good- just not restaurant quality. We have an incredible Indian restaurant an hour from us so maybe the 4.5 isn't exactly fair. Will go into our recipe box!!!! Thank you to the contributor.

Mom's Baking Powder Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2012
Followed recipe exactly with one exception- I used 1 tablespoon of baking powder instead of the 2 1/2 teaspoons. Not a drastic change but read that the more baking soda the more they would rise. Super easy and quick to make. Now we can have biscuits and gravy many more mornings!

Toasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2012
Followed recipe with two exceptions. 1) I used bread I made from a recipe on here called Amish White Bread. 2) I used more garlic then called for- probably double the amount- I LOVE garlic! Wonderful recipe. Thank you.

Dianne's Roasted Potatoes and Carrots

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2012
Absolutely incredible. Followed recipe exactly. Only thing I would add is that I have never had mine done at 20-25 minutes. It's more like 45 minutes to an hour.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
Followed recipe exactly. I did as another reviewer suggested and cut up meat 1 hour before serving then put back in juice in crock pot. Used Provolone cheese on top. Reason for not giving 5 stars is we felt it needed some more flavor. Not sure what it is but with tinkering this will be a keeper

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2011
Made as stated with the exception of 1/2 of the salt and pepper. I cooked 3 lbs ground beef and this was just enough to give it some flavor. Not sure if doubling the recipe would have been just right or too much. Would have doubled but only had enough chili powder to make this as stated.

BUSH'S® Best Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2011
I made this before and didn't care for it but my 7 year old daughter begged for it so I made it again and I LOVED it. I used 3- 26oz cans. I used a blender to mash up 1 1/2 cans keeping the liquid in with the beans. Make sure to mash them up really good. This is the mistake I made by not mashing them up enough. Now that I think of it we didn't add cheese or onions the first time either and did this next time! Made a big difference. We also had a bit of leftover fresh very small diced pieces of jalapeno and added that which gave it some extra spice. Incredible taste! Used Bush's brand as well.

Amazing Pecan Coffee Cake

Reviewed: May 20, 2011
When first reading the directions for making this it seems like a lot but once you make it it isn't bad. Just more reading then anything! I gave this a 4 only because I think it was a tad bit too sweet. It also needed to cook for 40 minutes instead of the 35. Will keep and make again- just maybe 1/4 c. less sugar.

Slow Cooked Corned Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2011
Followed recipe exactly and would give this a 5 star rating but taste wasn't as much as we would have liked. I think the 2nd spice pack would have helped it a lot. Will look over reviews and make again. Also- 2 (3 pound) corned beef briskets was quite a bit. Could easily get by with 1 or 1 1/2 of them. Put extra 1/2 in freezer for next time.

Chicken Korma II

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2011
I give this a 4 star rating ONLY because we made this exactly with exception of cashews. The flavor was good but not very strong. Just enough to notice a slight taste. I just read some other reviews and agree that the spices amount is not enough. Will retry this again though!

Mom's Country Gravy

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2011
Followed recipe exactly with exception of using bacon grease instead of vegetable oil. We let the grease cool a bit after cooking bacon then pour it into a glass pyrex dish with lid and put in frigerator. Use exact same amount of bacon grease as is called for oil in recipe (1/2 cup).
