My favorite family cooking traditions
Favorite family cooking tradition would have to be the black eyed peas with a ham shank served over rice that we've eaten every New Year's Day for as long as I can remember. I recently added a pot of mixed greens (collard, mustard & turnip) and a side of cornbread to the mix. My mom use to serve it w/her homemade coleslaw, but I'm not a huge fan of coleslaw unless it's from KFC.

Mom's Buttercream Frosting
This is the best frosting I've ever made. I've tried several other recipes from scratch and this was THE BEST! I'll definitely use it again.

Hash Brown Casserole II
We make this every holiday. A friend of my younger brother had a small wedding where their parents prepared most of the food. After spending holidays with us several times they requested that I make three pans of this for the wedding reception. (Later I found out they wanted two pans for the reception and one to take home to eat themselves. LOL!) I just came to the site hoping to find this already typed out. My daughter wants to make it and wanted me to email her the recipe. (Coming here is easier than typing it out!) This will always be a family fave for us. Sometimes we change it up by using different soups and different cheeses (once we added diced ham and swiss w/celery soup... it was great!), but we always come back to this version.

Macaroni and Cheese V
Just like mom's except mom uses crushed crackers on top instead of bread crumbs. I'm not a huge fan of either so I used french fried onions on top. Yum!
