Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2012
I've used SO many good recipes from this website but this is the first one I'm writing a review for! I made this for Thanksgiving and my husband's family couldn't stop raving about how delicious it was. One person even said it was the best apple pie she had EVER had! I used premade pie crusts because I was baking in someone else's kitchen and it was my first pie so I didn't want to mess up everything! Baked for the whole time at 350. I added the tsp of cinnamon and only 1 tsp of vanilla. I added a dash of all spice as well. I wished I had mixed all the syrup with the apples instead of trying to pour some on top because it crystallized so quickly it was goopy and wouldn't go through the lattice. I did use egg whites to brush the bottom crust so it wouldn't get mushy. I did as another reviewer said 10 min before the time was up (about 50 min) brushed on milk and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. I used a mixture of apples, 2 granny smith, 1 honeycrisp, 2 gala and 1 macintosh. THIS PIE WAS AMAZING!!!
