Chocolate Cupcakes with Caramel Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2014
Pretty good. I heeded the warning by several other reviews that itwas not a real chocolatey flavor and added some Hershey's Special Dark syrup and chocolate chips to enhance the flavor. I also had no grape jelly and used raspberry jam in it's stead. Very moist, great flavor and they looked perfect out of the oven. Did not use the frosting recipe as I wanted to make German chocolate frosting instead. Absolutely delicious!

German Chocolate Cake Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2014
I loved this! I actually forgot to add the butter but it still turned out great. I can only imagine that the butter would make it taste even better! Next time, lol.

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2014
This was my first pie crust, too. I'm currently expecting and was really hankering for some pear and apple pie but I'd used my last store-bought crust on quiche last week. So I gave this a go. Unfortunately, the shortening I thought I had wasn't in the cupboard so I used 1 1/4 c of butter instead as another reviewer was short on shortening(lol) and used butter to make up the difference. I have to say that so far, so good! It does only seem to make 3 crusts, rather than the 4 mentioned in the recipe but I love crumble toppings so no worries there. Pie is baking now so I can't vouch for the taste yet, but I had no trouble with the texture (too wet, too dry) when rolling out. I even made a lattice/woven top for my pie since rolling the bottom was so easy. It looks amazing I can only imagine it'll taste great, too!

My Best Chicken Piccata

Delicious! I doubled the sauce so there would be enough to spoon over the pasta, just yummy!

Best Ever Jalapeno Poppers

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2013
Delicious! I substituted ground sausage for the bacon and added cumin, sage and chili powder to the filling. I also switched the breadcrumbs for crushed Ritz crackers which I also added the above seasonings to. Absolutely yummy!

Tasty Potato Latkes

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2013
Really yummy! I tried another recipe with too much egg-to-potato ratio, but this was just right. I added some bacon crumbles to mine and substituted the dry onion soup for fresh, chopped onions. I also tossed some diced chives and bacon crumbles on top as a garnish. Absolutely delicious and really easy to make!

I did like a few others said and substituted butter for the shortening. Pretty good biscuits, no complaints!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2013
Absolutely delicious! I substituted a few things, for instance fresh pumpkin puree rather than canned and sunflower oil for veggie oil. I also added allspice and vanilla extract as well as increased the amount of the other spices. Just for fun, I tossed in some chocolate chips and walnuts. This recipe is so moist and full of flavor, I received so many compliments on the mini breads I gave as gifts I can't wait to make it again!

Sweet and Spicy Green Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2013
I added chicken and broccoli to some home-grown bush beans. I didn't have the garlic chili powder either, so I just chopped some extra garlic and used ground cayenne pepper. It was so delicious! The aroma as it cooked was mouth-watering! I will definitely be using this with other veggies and meats, maybe over rice or noodles. Excellent recipe!

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
Delicious! The Turkey was so moist and juicy, done just perfectly. This was such a nice, simple recipe, just what we were looking for. Instead of traditional seasoned salt, we used garlic salt and substituted chicken broth for the bouillon. My husband basted several times as well, even though it was covered with foil. Thanks!
