About this Cook
I am a mom to three kiddos and one starving husband! I didn't know how to cook until my son was old enough to start wanting more than hot dogs and mac and cheese :) I am a full time student, worker, wife and mom and I LOVE to spend time with my family but my favorite way to unwind is sit on the porch with my friends and a glass of wine.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, and BBQ the most probably because they are easy :) I am working on breaking out of my comfort levels in as many ways as I can. I always believed that baking is the exact science but I am learning to go with what I've got. Since I am back to school, I am often looking for easy and quick meals for my family, but I love to find things to bring into work :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year my parents have a Christmas open house, the week before the party my mom, sister, the kids and I get together to bake cookies. We have our annual favorites, but we like to have one or two new recipes to try. I love that day, and look forward to it every year...it's a fun day (even if my mom is the dictator sometimes ;)) where we get to spend time together doing something we love.
My cooking triumphs
My dad always said that I could burn water(which I HAD done) so when I started cooking more, he still was teasing me, but when we invited my mom and dad over for dinner and prepared a beautiful meal, it made me feel good that I was able to create a lovely evening from it
My cooking tragedies
Really I could burn water! I was talking on the phone in my teenage years making macaroni and cheese and forgot all about the water boiling, so when my dad came home for lunch there was the empty pot burning away!

Bill's Sausage Gravy
I made this for dinner using Italian Sausage and it was very good. The flavor was great and we used it for biscuits and gravy. Using the grease drippings from the sausage is what gave the gravy an amazing flavor that didn't need very much salt or pepper

Waffles I
These were very good. I did add the nutmeg as suggested by another user, and that would be a great Christmas addition. For every day use I would make as is...better than Bisquick :)

Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole
This is a great-different-breakfast casserole. I used more ham than called for (I think the ham that I had was 16oz) but it was easy. I put the casserole together the night before and put in the oven while pre-heating and cooked for the same time.
