I was excited to try this cake after seeing the positive ratings & reviews, but the final product was such a disappointment. The taste is still a lot like a box cake, only ...more artificial? I used pure vanilla & almond extracts - no imitations. The additional sugar is what really ruined it for me. Even plain, the cake is far too sweet (and I LOVE sweets!). I won't be trying to re-work this recipe. I will give it 2 stars for the consistency, though.

Amish White Bread

This recipe is wonderful & easy. I reduce the sugar to 1/3 C. for the most part, but occasionally make a few loaves with a cinnamon swirl and leave the recipe as is - my two young children go absolutely bonkers over it! I make it in an antique bread maker with a handcrank hook... cleanup is a breeze. I've yet to have a batch fail.

Maraschino Cherry Nut Cake

This cake was just alright. Not quite as light as I had expected, but my toddlers gobbled it up just the same. Next time, I'll make it without frosting - it adds way too much sweetness to an already sweet cake.

Molasses Sugar Cookies II

I can't seem to bake these fast enough - my kids LOVE them and they pair wonderfully with a cup of tea! I like to wrap the dough in saran wrap and chill overnight - it makes the rolling much easier and cleanup is a breeze! The only change I make to the recipe is to use butter rather than shortening - we avoid partially hydrogenated oils at all costs. Having made the cookies both ways, I prefer the butter. Be sure to reduce the salt if using salted butter!

Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting

I found this to have wayyyyy too much peanut butter. I ended up adding an additional 2 cups of confectioners' sugar to balance it out.

Great recipe. Just the right balance of salty and sweet. I don't like to press my cookies with a fork, so I just rolled them in sugar and baked them - so light and fluffy!

Peanut Butter Fudge

This recipe tastes great, but it was not nearly as firm as I would have liked. I boiled it for exactly 5 minutes and didn't stir it once it reached a rolling boil. If I make it again, I think I'll use a candy thermometer. Otherwise, everything was great. Mild peanut butter flavor and just the right amount of toothiness.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

I've never been a fan of Chicken Pot Pie, but this was wonderful. I used frozen mixed veggies and roasted a whole chicken to use rather than chicken breast. My husband claims it's the best Pot Pie he's ever had in his life :)

Banana Pancakes I

I had some buttermilk on hand so I used that instead of regular milk and I also added some korintje cinnamon. They came out very fluffy and the flavor was great. My husband claims they are the best pancakes he's ever had :) We'll definitely make them again.
