Turkey and Quinoa Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2014
I am not a fan of regular meatloaf, but this was FANTASTIC! I LOVED the texture of the ground meat and quinoa and felt the quinoa added a nice flavour. I think where this recipe goes wrong is not mentioning what TYPE of hot pepper sauce people should use. I read some reviews that thought the 'hot sauce' was overpowering, some that called the recipe bland. There are so many types of hot pepper sauce with differing flavour profiles, I'd like to know what type/brand the recipe's author intended. The first time I made this, I used a Thai sweet garlic chilli sauce, as a review recommended and it was PERFECT!! The second time I tried a Jamaican hot pepper sauce and it was too bland. I would never try a tablespoon of tabasco because I think that WOULD overwhelm the recipe, but I might try 1/2 TBS. This is a fantastic recipe and I intend to keep experimenting with the different hot pepper sauces, but I'll double the recipe and make one with the sweet garlic chilli sauce.

Herb Roasted Pork

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2011
I thought it was fantastic, but my husband didn't care for the glaze. He said it tasted too strongly of vinegar. I thought it was a perfect balance of sweet and tart.

German Spaghettini

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
I followed the recipe exactly, despite feeling like there were some obvious steps missing; such as when and if to chop the sausage and bacon. The sausage was easy enough to chop before serving, but not so the bacon. Some people ended up with a whole slice of bacon in their meal. Next time I will cook the bacon a little first, just to cook off some of the grease, chop it and then add it when the recipe calls for it. I'd still leave it very soft though because the bacon flavour it adds to the dish is wonderful. I thought of maybe taking the casings off the sausage and breaking it up like ground beef, but having the slices of sausage was very nice. This was a very nice change from regular spaghetti and everyone loved it. I'll definitely make it again. Second time making it - I felt like there was too much sugar, perhaps because I used a ready made spaghetti sauce instead of tomato sauce. Add sugar to taste if using a spaghetti sauce

Strawberry Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: May 21, 2011
All you could taste was the pepper. It was almost inedible. I wouldn't make this again. I feel like I must have done something wrong because of all the positive reviews, but I triple checked everything before adding it. I'm a bit obsessive that way.

Peanut Butter Cup Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2010
I made this for my Mom's birthday and it was a big hit with everyone that tried it. I was asked for repeatedly for the recipe. It was so easy to make, I'd make it again just for dessert. For the peanut butter drizzle, I would encourage people NOT to microwave the peanut butter in a plastic bag as recommended by another post (microwaving anything plastic is bad) but microwave the peanut butter in a glass and transfer it into the plastic bag afterwards, if you want the control of an icing bag.

Bacon Chicken I

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2010
This gets 4 stars because of how easy it is to make. I have tried pre-frying the bacon and turning the broiler on for the last 10 minutes or so to brown it and I have to say I prefer the taste of the original recipe. Too much bacon flavour is lost by pre-frying it. A lot of taste for not a lot of work.

Onions Baked with Rosemary and Cream

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2007
I tried this one out on myself before I decided to make it for company. I found out that dried rosemary is not a good idea. I've never used fresh rosemary before, but I'll definatly try this next time! To answer the other poster's question, I found that the skins dried and were easy to remove with a fork once they were done. I will definately make this again though!!

Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2006
WOW! I just made this and I can't believe how amazing it tastes. I didn't add the chilli powder at all because I added fresh Jalepenos to the stock and I omitted the can of whole tomatoes. It turned out perfect. Just spicy enough!

Sweet 'n Sour Glazed Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2006
The first time I made this I accidentally used soya sauce and it turned the sauce an ugly dark brown colour, but that was my mistake and I now make this recipe every time I need something quick, easy and delicious! I add peppers and onions and chop the chicken into cubes. Not as healthy maybe, but faster.

Onion Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2006
I'm giving this 5 stars because it is so easy to prepare and it doesn't require many ingredients. I didn't use nearly the amount of oil called for, so I didn't find it greasy like other reviewers. I just used enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan. I also added some garlic and green peppers. Very, very tasty.

Potato Casserole I

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2006
I loved this recipe. I read some of the other reviews, so I chose to add some spice of my own. I didn't measure or anything, but I threw in some dried chilli peppers and some cayenne pepper along with the fried onion and I loved how it turned out. I also didn't have any cream of chicken soup, so I added cream of celery instead. Very easy to make and tastes great!

This recipe was excellent, except I wasn't a big fan of the chicken thighs. I cooked it for my boyfriend and he agreed. I would definately make this again, but next time I'll use boneless ckicken breasts.
