Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2007
Very good recipe. I followed the lead of other reviewers and used half the sugar. I also added half a red onion for color (I don't even like red onion!). I would like it with goat cheese crumbled in, but didn't think my audience tonight would like time. Even my picky, "Don't mix fruit with my food" husband commented on it several times.

Irish Lamb Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2007
Very good recipe. I did tweak quite a bit. Scaled recipe for 6 servings and made the following changes: 1/2 lb bacon(good bacon from meat counter) 2 lbs lamb steaks 1 onion divided 1 Tbs brown sugar no thyme 1/2 C red wine to deglaze pan Then threw everything in crock pot after browning and sauteing and deglazing, cooked on low 4 hrs added 1 Cup or so Guinness, cooked another hour, stirred in fresh, chopped parsley and served with Irish brown soda bread(by Andrea Doyle, also from this site)

Chicken Piccata III

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2007
Yum-o (as Rachael would say). I substituted 2 oz of capers for the mushrooms and added 1/2 cup white wine. I served it over really good pasta. Kids didn't like it. Oh well more for mommy!!

Caramel Snack Mix

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2006
I made this as a teacher gift for my son's preschool teachers. It came out pretty good. The cereal is a little chewy, but how could anything coated in sugar be bad! I added a couple shakes of cayanne pepper. You cannot taste the pepper, but it adds a nice surprise of heat. I cooled mine on cookie sheets so I didn't have to stir so often.

Kid's Favorite Meatballs

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2006
This is good, but... I used one can soup, and then one can low sodium broth to cut back a little on the salt.

Beer Beef Stew II

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2006
I love a guinness, but I thought the beer made this stew a little bitter, even with the brown sugar. I think beef stew is just one of those dishes you don't mess with hr recipe.
