Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
I used only four bananas and thought it wasn't sweet enough and kind of dry. Next time I'll use more and measure out the 2 1/3 cups to give the receipe a fair chance.

Pumpkin Bread IV

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
Excellent. My house smelled wonderfully and I timed it so they came out of the oven as guests were arriving. I had to cook it for about 75 minutes to get it to cook through. I will definitely make it again.

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
I used 8 oz of cream cheese like other reviewers recommended. Best served hot and definitely not as amazing once it cooled off. Next time I'll make it in two different rounds to make sure it is fresh for the entire party.

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: May 30, 2009
Wonderful! My toddler was literally licking his fingers. Served over rice. Used 1 tsp of salt in each part and it was more than enough.

Butternut Squash Risotto

Reviewed: May 30, 2009
Very good and creamy. Used 3 1/2 cups of broth. Needs a clove or two of garlic. Next time. Serving it to my toddler with some chicken. Great as a side dish.

Awesome Broccoli-Cheese Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2006
I served this at a dinner party and no one liked it. Although the flavor was ok, the consistency was too runny. I also crumbled Ritz crackers and a little butter on the top, which burned within a few minutes and had to be scrapped into the trash. I think next time I'll choose a recipe with rice to give it a thicker consistency.

Grilled Asian Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2006
Although I used it differently, this recipe was still very good. I used it as a sauce and not a marinade. I sautéed the garlic and ginger in the sesame oil and then sautéed shrimp. I removed the shrimp and then sautéed an Asian stir fry kit (snap peas, bok choy, bean sprouts, shitake mushrooms, and red peppers). I added the cooked shrimp just before the veggies became tender and served over coconut rice. It was a bit salty so consider using low sodium soy sauce.

American Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2006
I made this vegetarian by using Morning Star's meatless crumblers instead of the meat. I left out the parsley because I didn't have any in the house, and I used 1 Tbs. of white sugar instead of brown sugar since I had run out. I also added a second can of diced tomatos as other reviewers recommended. Even with this, I was still short on sauce for the top and had to open a bottom of tomato sauce to mix in so the top layer was covered. The flavor was great, but the consistency was totally messed up. I sprayed by 9x12 dish with Pam and put the first three of the nine lasagna noodles on the bottom. I baked it covered with foil at 375 for 1 hour and 15 minutes, and this bottem layer was so tough that I could barely cut through it and it was totally inedible. Next time I think I may cook it for only 45 minutes and possibly add some sauce to the bottom to help this layer from not overcooking.

Apple Butter Spice Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2006
Very good. The cook time was a little long for my oven so use a toothpick to remove as soon as it is cooked through to retain as much moisture as possible. I will definitely make this again next fall to use up my extra apple butter.

Kabob Marinade

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2006
Excellent. I marindated chicken, cherry tomatoes, red and green peppers, button mushrooms, and red onions for about six hours. I served over rice pilaf after grilling until chicken was cooked. I will definitely use it again.

Butternut Squash Bisque

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2006
Very good. I sliced the butternut squash in half, scooped out the seeds, and roasted it face down in a pan with 1/2 of water at 350 for 40 minutes. I also added a dash of cinnamon.

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2006
Excellent! This was my first attempt at risotto, and it was a total success! I halved the recipe, which was more than enough for me and my husband. I left out the chives since I didn't have any in the house. Also, I used a third of a pound each of white, shitake and portabella mushrooms. Finally, I grilled shrimp seasoned with salt, pepper, and paprika to make it a main course. Great recipe.

Kugel

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2006
I made this last night for my family's break the fast, and it was a huge hit. This was as good as any other kugel that I have ever had. 1/3 cup ended up being two whole graham crackers crumbled. Next time will definitely use three since the toppings became sparse when it was cut and served. Thanks for a great recipe, Ann!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2006
The crust was too dense for my liking, but I am sure it was my lack of skills and not the recipe. I substituted one cup of whole wheat flour to make a flour mix, which may have caused the problem. I will definitely try it again.

Gourmet Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2006
I made this without the chicken to make it vegetarian for my husband. I sauteed half a yellow onion and three cloves of garlic in a little olive oil and added to the pizza at the same time as the green onions. Delicious!

Jam Filled Butter Cookies

These were really good but not absolutely amazing. I would give a 4.5 if I could since they were better than a 4 but not the highest 5 star rating.

Very easy and tasty. I left out the lime because I didn't have one in the house and it still came out nicely.

Jambalaya II

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2006
Very good recipe but I had to enter a significant amount of extra liquid to cook the rice. I probably needed to turn the heat lower so be sure to watch the dish as it simmers. Also, I left out the chicken and sasage and substituted shrimp, which I threw into the simmering mix approximately 10 minutes before serving.
