This was surprisingly a lot easier to make than I thought it would be. The dough was easy to work with, and they taste really yummy! A definate keeper.

Jalapeno Bread I

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2006
Yummmmm-EE!!! I made this loaf for my Dad. We just tried some and boy, it's soo good! It has a very good jalapeno flavor with just a little spiciness. I added just a little extra cheese and i think that made the loaf sink in a little on the top, but it still turned out very tasty! I will make this often!

Apple Cake III

This cake was already 1/2 gone an hour after taking it out of the oven. My boyfriend and his buddy devoured it and raved about how good it was.

Busy Day Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2006
Although, the meat does fall off the bone, I wouldn't say it was moist. It was actually kind of dry. But, you get that cooking chicken in a slow cooker. When you cook chicken in a slow cooker, it melts in your mouth. I like it, a lot like that. I liked the BBQ idea but I found the BBQ sauce, after cooking all day, had a burnt flavor to it. I would suggest having some non-cooked BBQ sauce set aside (I use Sweet Baby Ray's) for after the meat is done cooking. Otherwise you'll be useing watery, fatty, burnt tasting sauce. My boyfriend loved this, he was "mmmm-ing" the whole time eating it. He said it was dry too, but the BBQ sauce fixed that. I gave this 5 stars because it is very good and I will be making this often. Maybe next time I will put bacon (& the BBQ sauce) on the top as it cooks.

Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2006
Whew! Pie crust is hard to roll out and put in a pan! (my first time with my own pie crust) But overall, this crust turned out fantastic. I even made it sort of thick and had to patch holes after I tried to place it in the pan. I did not overwork it at all, which I know will take the flakeyness out of the crust. Also I used butter flavored shortning instead of the regular kind. I will use this recipe every time I make a pie.

Simple Tuna Melt

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2006
Pretty good. I like the idea that this melt is on an English muffin. But instead of hot peppers I used sliced pepperchini's. As well as a little mayo, salt and pepper. I made these for dinner and and the leftovers for lunch the next day, cold. They're good cold too.

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2006
People could not stop eating these! My boyfriend and his friends went out for the day and while they were gone I baked these little goodies. When they arrived back home they devoured them complimenting me over and over again. (talk about an ego boost..ha!) So I'd say this is a keeper. One thing though, Next time I will use all shortning instead of the butter to achieve a chewier texture. They cool off to have a crumbly edge and chewy center.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2006
This we great! However next time I will not use refridgerated buscuit dough. I will make my own dumplings because the dumplings were mushy and not very tasty. I used leftover chicken in this and cooked it on low for 5 hours. I also added a cup of frozen vegies and of course salt and pepper. (I halfed the recipe since I only cook for two, so 2 cups of vegies if your making the whole batch) I served this with sourdough bread and some fresh fruit. My boyfriend loved this soup and he isn't a soup fan. My friend ate some as well and also liked it. This will be a regular meal in my home.

Honey Bun Cake I

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2006
Pretty good but very very sweet. This was also really gooey (which is good). I liked this but next time I will use less of the cinnamon sugar mixture. I liked the topping a lot.

Sour Cream Burgers

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2006
This is THE only way I will make burgers. They are juicy, flavorfull, and even have a sort of creamy texture. They fall apart on the grill so be carful. I make the mixture the night before so the flavors have time to meld. The first time I made these my friend, after devouring it in no time at all, told me to tell his wife the recipe. I like to melt swiss cheese on top. This is always a hit with my guests when I make them.

Pink Princess Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2006
Pretty good! I used the leftover strawberry juice to make a glaze and I sprinkled the top with coconut. I think I overcooked it a bit, but that's ok. Very strawberry-ie. Yum!

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2006
Wow, does this meat fall right off the bone or what?! Very good! I didn't get a whole chicken, I got a cut-up whole chicken. I also used Old World Seasoning from my local specialty spice store (penzeys.com) instead of salt, pepper, and paprika (which is also very good). I didn't have a chance to heat on high for one hour and it turned out fine on low for 9 hours. My light eating boyfriend ate 1/2 of the chicken, as well as "Easy Buscuit Mixture" from this site and broccoli (that's the most I have seen him eat for dinner in a long time!). This will surly be a regular meal in my home! With the leftovers I am going to make chicken dumpling soup! Thanks!

Easy Biscuit Mixture

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2006
I scaled this down to make about 6. Before baking I added some milk (not too much) and rolled them into crumbly balls. I baked them at 400/450 or so for about 12 min. When they came out they looked like lumpy cooked balls. I opened one up and it was perfect. Crunchy/crumbly on the outside and moist and flavorfull on the inside. I ate 2 of them with butter and I can say the taste is compareable to fast food restraunt biscuits (KFC).

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2005
These cookies are yummy! I made them last night and my picky-eater-boyfriend couldn't stop eating them. He told me they were his favorite cookie I have ever made! I used parchment paper and it made baking a breeze! I just slid off the paper onto my counter top to cool. The cookies are soft and chewy. I love them. I am makeing these often, that's for sure! :)

Creamy Potato Leek Soup II

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2005
I really like this soup! I used WAY too many potaoes though and it was almost mashed potatoes but it was still really tasty (added a bit of water to thin it out). I did add a bit of salt & pepper as well. I gave half of of the batch to my parents and they called me right after eating it and RAVED about it! However, my boyfriend wasn't too fond of it, he admitted to me, he would have liked it if it was more greasy. I strongly dissagree! :)

Sausage Shepherds Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2005
I love sausage so I was happy to see a Sheperds Pie that is SO EASY to make with sausage in it. I halfed this recipe and man, it was really good! (I also like to cook my sausage dark, brown and even sort of burnt.) The gravy made the vegies taste yummy too. I will surely be making this again.

Delicious Raspberry Oatmeal Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2005
I'm so glad I found this recipe. It's great because I always have all the ingredients in my kitchen (i used Smuckers 100% real fruit preserves). It's so easy to make too. The best part about them is they arn't too sweet and have a very fresh flavor. I gave one to my Dad when I went to visit him and he said, "Mmmmmm, you're the best cook!" :D

Cowboy Skillet Casserole

I really liked this. A good mix of sweet and savory. My boyfriend likes to put maple syrup on it. I served the leftovers to my neighbors, and they really liked it too! This one is a keeper in my book!

Artichoke Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2005
I don't know why this had such rave reviews. I love artichokes and chicken but this recipe was not good!! Maybe i did somthing wrong. I couldn't even eat it. I wouldn't serve it to my boyfriend. I threw it all away and made somthing else. The taste was in my mouth all night after that I had to keep chewing gum. I thought this was really bad. Sorry.
