Marshmallow Brownies

These were really good. I only changed one thing. I lowered the amoun tof chocolate chips by 1/2 cup becaus eI knew 2 cups would be too much for my liking. It was STILL too much. Nexst time, I'll lower the chocolate to 1/2 cup, or just not use any at all. I really feel that the chocolate chips hold the recipe back. They cover the wonderful butterscoth flavor, which for me is the whole point of the recipe. I mean, if I want a mouth full of chocolate, I could just make normal brownies. Of course, I'm one of thos epeople who thinks chocolate is vastly over-rated. Other than that, I loved them. They were dense, rich, and sweet. I may even add extra marshmallows next time.

Baked Beans III

Definatly a keeper. Who'd have thought you could turn that from the can into such a delicious and satisfying dish? Everyone who ate it raved about it. Next time, I'm gonna try reducing the sugar a bit, and adding some bbq sauce.

Chicken Fried Chicken

I had high hopes for this recipe, and I wasn't disappointed. I added a little more potato flakes and seasoning though. It came out crispy and flavorful. It went great with alfredo noodles and yeast dinner rolls.

Easy Sugar Cookies

Fantastic sugar cookie recipe. I wanted thinner, crispier sugar cookies so I made the following changes for mine. Scaled to 12 servings. Added an extra tablespoon sugar. Only used egg whites. Baked for an extra 2 minutes. It worked. They came out nice and crispy. They kind of taste like ice cream cones. Excellent cookies.

Southern Living Magazine's King Cake

People. This is good king cake. This recipe is a WINNER. As a antive Louisianian, I've eaten king cake all my life, and like the others here have said, this recipe is top-notch. This is as good, if not better than anything you can buy down here, or for that matter, anywhere. And it's also fun to make. Most certainly a 5 star recipe.

Eclairs II

My default rating is 5 stars, but I took 3 off for various reasons. The good: The pastry itself was awesome. Wonderful texture. Definately worth remembering. I'll be using that part for sure in the future. The filling. Wonderful. Just like the cream in the doughnuts and eclairs from bakeries and doughnut shops. I love it. The bad: The chocolate frosting. First, I didn't care for it all together, and second, it's not the kind of frosting I like to see on eclairs. In the future, I'd microwave a can of store bought chocolate frosting and pour it over them. It's something I used with another recipe and it works very well. Right taste and texture. The ugly: Dirties alot of dishes and measuring cups and such. Also alot of flour and stuff to wipe up. Pretty messy. Overall, the recipe takes more effort than the reward is worth. There's so much to making these.

Dutch Babies II

A very easy and rewarding recipe, suitable for even beginners. Unfortunately I didn't have powdered sugar, so I topped it with some brown sugar and lemon juice, which was fine, but I know it will be much better with the powdered sugar. Into the recipe box this goes.

Donna's Famous Cheesecake

Made 2 of them. Don't have a springform pan so I bought 2 premade gram cracker crusts. We tried one while it was still warm and said "ehh it's ok..." The taste was alright, but the texture was strangle. Very "eggy". Stuck them in the fridge and let them chill for the day. They are 100x better. A really good cheesecake recipe.

Beignets

As a native of southern louisiana who has lived in a city near new orleans all my life, I can say these are fairly decent beignets. They can't compare to cafe du monde, or the festivals beignets, but they are not bad. Need lots and lots of powdered sugar though. More than the recipe lists.

Apple Dumpling Cake

This recipe is a keeper, no question. I modified the recipe a bit. I placed on elayer of apple slices in the dish, topped with a mixture of brown and white sugar, then pats of butter. Another layer of apples, more sugar, butter, and so on, then the dough. TOO MUCH BUTTER! That's my own fault though, and I factored that in when rating the recipe. Next time I will make it to the letter, and mess with changes from then on. One more thing. I used both washington and mcintosh apples. The washington apples really took away from the recipe. They are bland. mcintosh are much better. More fruity tasting. Still, all 4 people that ate this recipe loved it, so it's a winner, and will go to my favorites box.

Baked Potato Soup I

This si one of the BEST recipes I've ever gotten from this site. It was thick and very creamy. I added double the amount of bacon, and would suggest the same to anyone I recommend this recipe to. The great thing is, unlike an actual baked potato, you are sur eto get the full flavor in every bite, so this soup is actually far better than an actual potato. All in all, this recipe is a huge winner and will be made many more times in my kitchen.

Peanut Butter Cream Pie

Not bad. Not great. It was just like peanut butter fudge in a pie shell, only a little less candy-like and a little more filling like. It wasn't the light and fluffy texture I was hoping for.

Chemical Apple Pie (No Apple Apple Pie)

I mainly made this just to see how it would come out. I was surprised at how apply it tasted. I probably won't make it again, just because there's too many other easy pies out there, but if I do, I will use alot more cinamon, and a little more butter. The pies flavor was kind of monotonous. All very sweet, and I couldn't pick up the cinamon at all. I'd use at least 2 tablespoons cinamonif I made it again, but all in all, not a bad pie.
