Easy Decadent Truffles

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2012
These are amazing. I made them for a party and everybody loved them. I used good quality chocolate. I did the recipe as written but did divide in 3 and used 3 types of extract: rum 3/4 t, peppermint 1 tsp, vanilla 3/4 t then put them in 3 bowls in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. Then I brought them out, rolled em and put them back in the fridge in a covered container. The next day, I dipped and rolled them. They were gorgeous and delicious! I dipped in powdered sugar, chocolate, mint chocolate, white chocolate (the best) and melted toblerone (had some to use). Kept cool until served. used small cupcake papers and they looked wonderful and professional!

Awesome! Will use again and again. Makes a really thick frosting for 9X9 brownies. put on 3 layers. Hardens quickly so easy to layer. Next time I will try adding candy pieces after the frosting. Thanks!

Chocolate Lovers' Favorite Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2004
Great chocolate decadent cake. Do not make unless you want a very rich chocolate cake. I made it twice as the first one burned. the 2nd time here's what I did: 4 eggs, 2 C sour cream, over 325 and baked 60 min. and did not fill all the way to top (used almost all the batter and then made 2 cupcakes). Frosted after it was cooled with a 1:1 corn syrup and water that I heated, added 1/4-1/2 c white sugar and then lots of milk chocolate (6oz) and poured this over top as a beautiful glaze and then chilled. Some like the cake heated others like it cold. It does havea crust on the outside which makes heating nice and also it should be frosted as it's not too pretty looking. Greased with lots of butter then flour. No prob getting it out!thanks for recipe!

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2013
Awesome pie. Made this three times now and it'll be my go-to. So simple. So quick. Next time I may try and make my own crust! I used key limes once and twice key lime juice from a bottle. 100% key lime juice. SO much easier. Lime zest is great. Also have used lemon when I don't have lime. Right in fridge after baking 10 min. Cant wait to make again and use a fun topping/garnish

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
This was awesome! Everyone loved it. I think the pies are better the day after. After being in the fridge overnight setting. The deep dish required a lot of time to cook and wasn't set after cooking. I thought I'd have to remake the next day but no! The next day they were perfect! I used a frozen pie crust. Made this recipe twice. The first time measured the wrong amount of butter and used 50% more than the recipe called for......so I just added more sweet potatoes. Turned out delicious! This one I used a deep dish 9 inch pan. Had enough for two. When I re-made with regular pie crust and used the correct amount of butter and sweet potatoes ( a bit over 2+ cups mashed) it filled 2 as well. Everyone raved. I also used 1/4 tsp cloves and 1/4 tsp of ginger besides the nutmeg and cinnamon. Whole milk. One set of pies, forgot vanilla and was still good! The pies are excellent warm or straight out of fridge

Candied Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2010
I did something wrong. I thought this was foolproof after all the reviews but mine was runny. I was so embarrassed at the party I brought it to. Nobody tried it. Someone cut into it and it was all runny. Oh well, I wasted all of those yams and marshmallows! Well, whatever I did wrong, it was really bad. :(

Best Carrot Cake Ever

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2004
Great moist cake.I have made this cake 3 times in the past year.I use all 6 cups of carrots- not too moist- not too oily. I do not use the pineapple, raisins or nuts (nuts on frosting).I do add 1 cup coconut. Grease pan well. I have used 3 9 inch rounds and also have done muffins. This cake tastes even beter the next day. I frost, freeze and eat it all month! Cannot say enough about this great recipe! Enjoy. Thanks Nan.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2007
Holy fill in the blank is this cake good! I made it twice for a holiday party and people could not stop raving. I could not stop raving. So so good! I did both bundt and loaf pans. Bother were good. Loaf pans were easier and more predictable. That flaky top was "to die for." Amazing. This is a very rich delictable dessert that is totally worth the effort of the 5-7 minutes of mixing before adding the flour. I used cake flour. Don't know if it made a differenceas that is the only way I made it. Used almond and vanilla flavor but only 1/2 of the recommended almond. Delicious!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2004
Very good. Got rave reviews from friends at a breakfast party and people wanted the recipe.I used margarine instead of butter as one guest cannot have dairy products. Also, added some sprinkles of cloves and didn't add cornstarch because I did not have any. Also put in 9 in pan and it was tick. Very good. Thanks!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2004
So awesome! My favorite bread. I have made this many times. I add allspice as well. Everyone loves it and thinks I am the best baker. I have frozen loaves for over 6 months and when thawed, still very very moist. This bread definitely tastes best after a day or few.
