I took over making this dish for holidays with my husband's family. One year, I was out of eggs and, of course, who has eggs on Thanksgiving. So, I substituted a 1/2 cup of Miracle Whip for each egg. It turned out fantastic! I only make it this way now.
Also, this is so easy that I rarely prepare ahead of time. On the occasion that I am forced to make this one ahead of time, I mix everything together and refrigerate. I leave the baking for the morning. This doesn't always work very well. It gets a bit crispier around the edges than I'd like, but not burned, so it is a little bit of a time saver.
