About this Cook
I love cooking, but It's hard for me to find the time to really experiment with recipes. I don't have a wide variety of recipes in my repertoire but the recipes I do have are awesome.
My favorite things to cook
Tamale Pie, 16 bean soup and brown rice
My favorite family cooking traditions
For a safe new years eve tradition, our family has been having a pizza bake off for many years. Everyone puts in their request for the ingredients they want, and new years eve evening we all start baking. Adults and children alike participate. Younger kids can use Boboli Pizza crust, while older kids and adults tend to make their dough from scratch. We've had some amazing pizzas over the years, but one of my sons still holds the record for the most unique pizza. Instead of marinara sauce his pizza had chocolate sauce. it was topped with graham crackers, marshmallows, peanuts, and mini M&M's. We have the pizzas for dinner, and this was our first sweet pizza. We all laughed, but it was actually really good! LOL
My cooking triumphs
My first Thanksgiving meal cooked on my own. I was about 25.
My cooking tragedies
When I was about 19 years old, I was not yet very good at cooking. I always used a crock pot because the food always came out great and messing it up was almost impossible. One day, I had my usual chicken in the crock pot, and I burned it beyond recognition. SO SAD… and embarrassing. For years I heard, "how do you burn crock pot chicken?" LOL
