Butter Tarts

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
I found these tarts very "dry"- I guess I like mine with a little less raisins/nuts and more butter and sugar mixture. I also had to bake them for 35-40 min at 325 and were not at all overdone.

Alder Wood-Smoked Acorn Squash Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
Delicious! I didnt make it exactly as the recipe called for but it turned out amazing anyway- I didnt smoke the squash-I baked it in the oven until it was soft and scooped it out after. I used turkey bacon instead (it has a smokey flavour too it) cut the butter and sour cream in half too. I wish I had doubled the recipe as it did not last long!! I topped it off with a few toasted pumpkin seeds and yum yum yum!

No Bake Chocolate Oat Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2007
Made these for a camping trip and everyone loved them. I had many requests for the recipe. I did add a little salt to the butter and oats and cooked them for a few minutes to lightly brown them.

Strawberry Avocado Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2007
very good- I omitted the sugar altogether and it was still a sweet dressing- i also used lime juice instead of lemon and a bit of fresh cilantro. Very refreshing salad.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2006
I wasnt all that impressed with this recipe- they didnt stay very soft and the instant pudding gave them an "artificial" flavor that i really didnt like. I dont think i will make these again.

Wasabi Mayo Salmon

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2006
this was a great recipe- something asian without the usual teryaki flavor. My husband and i loved it but i dont think i would reccommend it for kids. Start off slow with the wasabi powder and taste it as you add more- all wasabi powders are not created equal. I ended up using 1/4 cup mayo and about 2 tbsp powder. I didnt have Yokon Gold chips so i used Lays seasalt and pepper and it turned out great. Thanks for the recipe.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2006
SOOOO Good! I have a new favorite cookie! They stayed soft until they were all gone- which was just shy of a week. They were perfect- i followed the recipe exactly- rolling them in sugar and flattening them slightly.

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2005
I made a quadrupal recipe for a party and they lasted about 20 minutes. Everyone loved them! I guess it depends on how big your mushrooms are but i had some leftover cream cheese mixture. (I used the leftovers to stuff some chicken breasts the following day for dinner) I added a bit more cayenne than the recipe called for and gave em a little extra kick. Every time I am invited to a get-together, I am asked to bring these.

Spaghetti Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2005
This is a great squash recipe- I did however change it up a bit- I added a little bit if salt and pepper, some extra parmesean cheese and I didnt use the bread cubes. I used cracker crumbs instead. I made a full recipe thinking my husband and i would have leftovers but we ended up eating it all. Very rich and yummy.

super yummy! Adjusted it to my taste- i added a little more O.J- some lime, lemon and orange slices. Went thru it quickly one summer night with the neighbors- had to make a double batch- what a night!!

Kettle Corn

tastes good when you dont burn it. I followed recipe exactly- burned. Tried heating oil and kernals first then adding sugar when a few popped as others had suggested and it turned out better- DO NOT STOP SHAKING POT!

Greek Style Potatoes

very good! be sure to use fresh lemon juice- bottled just doesnt cut it if you want that authentic flavour. I also added a small amount of mustard (a suggestion from my greek friend!)

Lemon Blueberry Bread

Reviewed: May 12, 2004
awsome loaf- everybody loves it! I will make a note to say to use fresh lemon juice, not the bottled stuff. I made it with both and the fresh is way better. The bottled stuff made it taste a little bland. I make it without the glaze and it is still fabulous.
