About this Cook
Married for 5 years- recently gave birth to first son.Work as a nurse at local hospital- love to cook and have been cooking with my mom for as long as i can remember. I love to try new things-flavours from different parts of the world staying as far away from packaged dinners as i can.
My favorite things to cook
Pastas, Large dinners for friends and family and appetisers for parties. My friend and I have become quite competitive and have regular "app-offs" for our get togethers. So far I think we are tied. Our husbands keep the fuel going- they enjoy the judging.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I just loved learning how to cook with mom. My first memory was cheese toast in the oven after Sesame Street. My other favorite tradition is "She who cooks- gets out of doing dishes"
My cooking triumphs
Catering my own wedding with a little help from my friends.
My cooking tragedies
Blackened Snapper- actually a recipe from this site- the fish turned out great. My beautiful Cuisinart Frying pan however- is a little worse for wear.

Butter Tarts
I found these tarts very "dry"- I guess I like mine with a little less raisins/nuts and more butter and sugar mixture. I also had to bake them for 35-40 min at 325 and were not at all overdone.

Alder Wood-Smoked Acorn Squash Soup
Delicious! I didnt make it exactly as the recipe called for but it turned out amazing anyway- I didnt smoke the squash-I baked it in the oven until it was soft and scooped it out after. I used turkey bacon instead (it has a smokey flavour too it) cut the butter and sour cream in half too. I wish I had doubled the recipe as it did not last long!! I topped it off with a few toasted pumpkin seeds and yum yum yum!

No Bake Chocolate Oat Bars
Made these for a camping trip and everyone loved them. I had many requests for the recipe. I did add a little salt to the butter and oats and cooked them for a few minutes to lightly brown them.
