About this Cook
I'm a mother of 3 grown children and a grandmother of a precious sweet baby under 1 yr. I live alone and prefer it that way, but I love having my family to come and cook for them. Brings back precious memories of when they were small. I am a Southern Gal, who does a lot of southern cooking, but love many genres of food and enjoy all of it.
My favorite things to cook
Of course, good old southern comfort dishes, slow cooker meals, or in the oven. I'm not a baker, I don't care for sweets and I don't normally cook them. I Love appetizers on special occasions.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Chicken cooked any way possible, got to be a potato and bread. Side dishes are usually what is in season, as in squash, okra, onions, cucumbers, greens, green beans, and always a bean, either dried or fresh.
My cooking triumphs
Green Bean Casserole - Just started making it about a year ago and my kids beg for it always, also my Chicken and Rice Casserole, I know these are simple, but always loved. I'm not normally a stick to the book recipe cooker, I always add my own touches.
My cooking tragedies
Grilling...Can never get my steaks at the right temperature. Tried it all..lol. I like mine medium rare, it usually ends up rare or burned, and I can never get the seasoning right????
