Chantal's New York Cheesecake
Okay maybe this review is a little early but I will update it if I change my mind later. I have never made a cheesecake before that wasn't a "Jello" box made one, so I really have no experience on it and I haven't tried it yet as it is still cooling in the oven. But I would like to say that I feel the directions for this cake is lacking. Followed the directions exactly and the cake cracked really badly in the center and out to the sides. My batter was also a bit lumpy when I made it. I also felt that the crust need about another 2 or 3 tablespoons of melted butter in it to really shape nicely to the pan, but I just followed the directions still. However, I apparently needed to read some of the reviews before making this because there were some helpful hints that could have prevented my problems. The water bath suggestions, making sure that your ingredients are all at room temperature before mixing, and others who have also said to add more butter to the crust mix. I feel that if these are the things that should be done when making this recipe then they should be in the directions. But it was very easy to make. So once this has been taste tested and I may try this recipe again using some of the hints found in the reviews, and if they work I will update my review. But for now I am not ecstatic about it.
