Restaurant Style Onion Rings

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2011
just made onions rings from this recipe. I've been on a quest to make onion rings like I enjoy in a restaurant. This recipe is the best so far. I may just quit here. I tried a couple things with this recipe. One: draining the onion ring dipped in pancake batter before deep frying them. That didn't work. They are better dip in batter then cooked right away. I tried adding panko to pancake batter. I like them that way- my husband didn't. :)

Creme Brulee

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2011
recipe is easy, simple! and yummy. I had a cooking class in making desserts so I knew how to temper the egg yolks with a few drops of warm cream and put water around the ramkins when cooking. The Creme Brulee turned out better than the brulee we made in class which called for whole eggs..just too eggy that way! I didn't worry about straining the mixture for smoothness..its just me eating them( hubby hates brulee- go figure!) but they were not lumpy!! Or maybe I gobbled them down too fast...no desserts stays too long in my kitchen!! Used blow torch on sugar....just for fun!

Oysters Rockefeller

Reviewed: May 28, 2011
This is an amazing recipe. Perfect in everyway. I used "Pernod" that I bought to cook food from recipes I got on a cruise ship.(27.00 a bottle) I was thrilled I had this anise flavored alcohol for this recipe. I had everything on the recipe but oysters in the shell. I used a glass of fesh oysters from Costco.I cooked the oysters in a frying pan with olive oil and garlic than cooked spinach in sauce left in the pan. I want to try shell oysters next. I first had Oyster Rockefller at Jake's Fish House in Portland, Oregon. This recipe is just as good and a whole lot cheaper. I would not change a thing but I would not use my Vita Mix blender next time since it made the mixture soupy. I will use my small Cuisnart to just chop the mix..

Blazing Shrimp

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
This is my recipe but to be honest a pound of shrimp for two people is a lot of shrimp but my husband loves shrimp. The pound of shrimp could easily feed four if the pasta amount is increased to 8 ounces and of course more veggie. Love cooking the shrimp this way and using the fish stock that cooks off the shrimp as sauce for the pasta. Of course, this recipe can be changed and added to in many ways for example using jarred peppers.

Yeast Dumplings

Reviewed: May 8, 2010
I liked these very much. I had to come up with something different from Bisquick dumpling since we were out of Bisquick. I liked them better..my husband still likes Bisquick dumplings. I'm sure it's because they are salty.

Creamy Blueberry Pie

very easy- a little too sweet for my taste buds. Our blueberries are naturally sweet and I should have added less sugar to the flour mix.
