Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2011
I liked this recipe. It is a little denser (little like pound cake) than your typical white cake mix batter. I added a little more milk for a looser batter and I think it helped keep them moist. It's so easy that I'm sure I'll be making these again. I didn't have ingredients for frosting, so dipped them in the "Vanilla Glaze" recipe. I would add a citrus zest/juice to the glaze or dust them w/powdered sugar, but frosting would be the best, in my opinion.

Vanilla Glaze

What I didn't like was that it tasted just like sugar to me, so I would definitely add lemon or orange juice/zest or something extra to enhance the taste. I did triple dip my Allrecipe "simple white cake recipe" cupcakes, since it was a little thin (I added too much extra milk). I'll try this again w/some alterations. Oh, and if you have problems w/lumps, sift the powdered sugar and whisk vigorously. That took care of mine.

Barbequed Ribs

Strange, I followed the directions pretty throughly, but just wasn't that impressed. The taste and tenderness were alright, but I've had and made better (in my opinion).

Israeli Moroccan Couscous

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2004
What a great tasting combination of healthy ingredients. A perfect way for me to get more vegetables in my diet. I loved how all the different flavors tasted together. My husband and I were a little skeptical about the turnip at first, but it didn't have a strong flavor at all. Will definetely make it again.
