About this Cook
I am a retired disabled person with MS. I don't let myself be limited by my abilities. I have cooked all my adult life and raised 3 beautiful healthy children. They have experienced the very best of my cooking; even my two sons are interested in cooking and ask for my advice on occasion. This Christmas, my youngest son and my son-in-law both received pressure cookers. So now they won't have to borrow mine!LOL
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking NEW things. My current favorite food to cook is Quinoa. I love the texture and even though it doesn't have a lot of flavor on it's own, I can experiment wih spices and such as that to create dishes that are to my liking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I used to knock myself out at holiday times; cooking all day, doing most of the prep all while having my chef father watching wht was going on in the kitchen. hese dinner were full on traditional turky dinners with all the trimmings. Beautiful to look at and better to eat, but oh my, the aftermath of the triptophan...
My cooking triumphs
1. Cooking a bone-in ham basted coated with mustard and packed on theoutside with dark brown sugar, then basted with whiskey and coca-cola. Best ham I ever cooked. 2. The pride I feel when someone ASKS me to make my Mississppi Mud Pie desert-I just love that!
My cooking tragedies
Once recently, I made banana bread and decided to double the recipe so that I could use my commercial sized loaf pans. Doing the toothpick test where you usually would, including the center and coming out clean,I put the loaf pans on my cooling racks until cool. Upon cutting a first slice, it was like any other heal of bread, but cutting several more slices for a plate, the bread still wasn't done! It was the same throughout and besides being disappointing, I clouldn't figure out where I went wrong to have this mess happen.
