The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2014
I took suggestions from other reviewers and added 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the crust (glad I did), microwaved the lemons for 15 seconds to get more juice (glad I did) and used 2/3 cup of juice (glad I did- but probably could have increased the sugar a smidge to compensate for how tart it was) that being said- my husband loved the tartness, and wouldn't have had me change it.

Cinnamon Belgian Waffles

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2014
Turned out great. Cooked for just over 3 minutes in rotating waffle iron. Will add a touch more cinnamon next time. I did not have buttermilk, so I "made" some by adding a couple spoons of sour cream to the measuring cup and then filling it up to one cup- with 1% milk.

Perfect and really easy. I used bottled key lime juice and made my own crust.

Texas Glazed Pecans

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2012
This was AWESOME. I used the same glaze on walnuts too. I didn't have parchment paper, so in one pan I used my silpat, and for the other I just sprayed a 9x13 with non stick. They both worked great. I just scraped up the bottom when I stirred with a bamboo spoon. 5 stars for sure!!

Snickerdoodles I

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2012
I was excited about these. I usually make the standard- old recipe from my red and white bhg cookbook, which are really good. I thought with the high rating- these might be better.... blech. They taste almost.... earthy. I'm pretty bummed.

Oatmeal Crispies I

Heartier, and less sweet than your average oatmeal cookie. This will be my new "go-to" recipe. Raisins would be good in these.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2012
In response to them not cooking through.... I cooked mine in a glass 9x13, at 350 for about 25 minutes. The very tips of the tops were pretty brown when I took them out- but every roll was cooked through perfectly. I think 400 degrees- as per the recipe is too high.

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2012
I made these by hand- as I don't have a bread machine or a kitchenaid. I made the recipe yesterday as stated, with egg yolks and rolling, and again today with egg whites, and just shaping the loaves after punching down. It's SOOO much better today! I can't believe how crusty and perfect it is. I feel like a bread diva!

Lemon Lush Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2011
This filling took forever to thicken. I stood in the kitchen stirring for a good 45 minutes, and the end result was an odd sour cream flavor nobody in my family cared for.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2011
My husband has only given 5 stars to 4 things I have EVER made... these brownies were one of them. Advice followed: melt butter for frosting- use half of the powdered sugar. Wonderful. Thanks :)

New Red Potato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2011
I mostly threw together my own dressing (I hate measuring stuff). But I used the cooking method with this recipe and it was perfect. I have tried before to make potato salad, and it always ended up too mushy. Nobody ever specified "tender but firm" before! One of those tips I will always remember now. Thanks so much.

The taste reminds me of chocolate ice cream. It's good, just not amazing. I was hoping for something a bit richer.

I followed the other reviewers advice... Butter instead of shortening, don't knead, and brush with melted butter after baking. Awesome.

This gets better the longer it sits, but it's too hard to wait. Still pretty yummy on days 1 and 2 :)
