Smoked Salmon Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2006
The only thing I did different was add about 3 TBlsp. scotch to the sauce. It turned out pretty good. I might make again and fiddle with it a little bit, but overall I was a little dissapointed. Thanks for the recipe, Jennifer.

Praline Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2006
I took this to Christmas dinner at the in-laws and it was very good. Not great, but worth making. I did add ground ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon to the potatoes when I creamed them. I think that really helped it a lot! I also took the advice of others and 1 1/2 times the topping, but it did not need that much. The recipe is fine as written. Thanks for the recipe, Mike. I will make again.

Martha Washington Candies

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2006
These were actually very good. I did not give the recipe 5 stars because I made some alterations as other reviewers suggested. I only used 1 stick of BUTTER, and 1 box (or 1 lb.) of sugar. They came out the perfect consistency. Once I balled them out, I placed them in the freezer for about an hour before dipping them in chocolate. Not too pretty, but very tasty! I might try the melon baller thing the next time. Thanks for the recipe, Willi. I will make again.

Buckeye Balls II

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2006
Only reason I did not give 5 stars was I did as other reviewers and reduced the sugar. I discovered that 1 box (or 1 lb.) is the perfect amount. That comes to about 3 1/3 cups. I don't see how one could use 4 cups, my dough was almost too dry. But, they turned out beautifully! My first time making buckeyes, so I am excited! Thanks for the recipe, Allison. I will use for my buckeye (or peanut butter balls as we say here in Tennessee Vols country) recipe from now on!

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2006
This was pretty good. The only thing I was dissapointed in was that there was no "shine" to the glaze on the popcorn once I baked it. It was almost sugary looking. It tasted great! I used chopped pecans instead of peanuts, and it turned out great. Just not as pretty as I wanted it to be. Thanks for the recipe, AnitaLouise. I will make again for parties and the like.

Corn Chip Crunch

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2006
I so wanted this recipe to be good. I love salty/sweet snacks. This burned in the oven after only 20 minutes. It isn't sweet enough either. I won't make again. Thanks anyway for the recipe, Nancy, and for trying something new and different, something other than the old Chex mix.

Peppermint Brittle

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2006
Pretty good recipe. It does need a little peppermint extract in the chocolate, so I added it in. I also added another layer of regular chocolate chips to make it prettier. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm not unwrapping 30 small candy canes. I used about 10 regular sized ones. Thanks for the recipe, Brenda! I will make again for Christmas.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2006
This is a great basic white bread recipe. It is perfectly sweet the way the recipe is written. No changes here, just sprinkled a little coarse salt on the top and brushed with an egg wash. Came out beautiful! Thanks for the recipe, Peg. I will make now on a regular basis.

Pumpkin Roll I

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2006
Great recipe! I followed other reviewer's advice and substituted pumpkin pie spice instead of all the different spices. I really like the combination of caramel and pumpkin, so I drizzled caramel sauce on the cheese mixture before I rolled the cake. YUMMY! I did not use the "two towel method" as suggested in the recipe. I just used foil, greased and floured, under the cake and then just another piece of foil on top to roll it right on the pan. Thanks for the recipe, Tammy! This one goes in the dessert recipe album.

Spicy Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2006
These smelled pretty good in the oven, but they came out rock hard and I followed the recipe exactly. I was a little disappointed. I spread cream cheese frosting between them and made little sandwiches which made them a little better, but overall I was sad.

Grilled Sausages with Caramelized Onions and Apples

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2006
Very good flavors. I used pulled pork that I cooked in the crock pot for my meat, but I used the apples and onions to go on top. Very tasty! Will make again, thanks for the recipe Jayda!

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: May 17, 2006
This cake was just OK. I covered/stored it properly after it was baked and when I served it, it was very dry. Only thing I did different was add regular strong coffee instead of the liqueur. I didn't have any in the house. We heated each slice in the microwave before we ate it, which made it very good, but overall I was a little dissapointed. I might make again and bake a few minutes less. Thanks for the recipe Caitlin.

Blackberry BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2006
This sauce is ok, but not anything special. I probably won't make again. It just didn't have that ZING I was looking for. Every once in a while when I took a bite, I could taste the sauce, but not like I wanted. Thanks for the recipe, Ina.

Bacon-Glazed Grilled Onions

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2006
These were just OK. I probably won't make again. The bacon did make the fire on the grill flame up and burn them, and I watched them carefully. I only used three layers of onion in my chunks, as another reviewer suggested and they still were not even close after 20 minutes. I'm a little sad. The 3 stars are for the flavors, they blend beautifully, but I might try the flavors in a different dish altogether. Thanks for the recipe, Southern Living.

Peanut Butter Pie V

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2006
This is a very good pie. Not QUITE fluffy enough, but I might cut back just a tad on the cream cheese and fix that problem. Other than that, perfect peanut butter pie. I used chocolate cool whip for the filling and regular cool whip to top the pie and boy was it to DIE FOR!!! I also crumbled Reeses cups on top for garnish. Perfect! Took it to an NFL draft party today and they couldn't believe I didn't buy this somewhere at some fancy bakery. No leftovers. I guess that speaks for itself, huh? Thanks for the recipe Jan. This one's going in the permanent album.

Gooey Butter Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2006
Not the best gooey cake I've had. It's ok, but I have tried another recipe that makes a much taller and chewier cake. This recipe is a little dry. I will not make this particular recipe again. Thanks for the recipe Tammy.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2006
I'm not too generous with my five stars. I only give them if the recipe is AMAZING. Folks, these cookies are AMAZING!!! Absolutely perfect. I did omit the nuts and add another cup of chips (I used a whole bag, actually), and believe it or not, I was out of vanilla, so I used butter flavoring instead. I also cooked them for about 16 minutes. They were not even close to being done at 12. They spread out just enough, the edges were delicately crispy and the inside chewy! MMMMMMM. I don't like to review a recipe if I've changed it too much, but I had to write about these. They are great! My cookie jar is very, very happy right now. Thanks for the recipe, Dr Amy!!!!

Basic Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2006
Great recipe! I don't have a pasta machine, so when I rolled it out, it was a little too thick, but I will roll it out even thinner next time. Fantastic. I made this the first time with Fettucine Alfredo V (submitted by Greg) from this site and it was very good. I can't wait to use this for ravioli and other pastas. Thanks Pat!
