Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2007
This has wonderful flavor, though I think the chili powder could be cut back (that's mostly what mine tasted like). I will be making this again though. We topped it with toasted tortilla strips, yummy!

Jewish Coffee Cake

Very good, a little sweet, but a keeper nontheless as it will be easy to modify that.

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2007
This was quick, easy, and came out perfectly. My three year old helped me make it. Definately a keeper, and I think the recipe would take add ins well. Next time I'll use more dark chips than milk chocolate, but that's the only change I'd make for our personal tasts.

Oven Roasted Red Potatoes and Asparagus

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2007
Very good. I was out of thyme so I omitted that, and probably used more olive oil than needed. Still, it was simple and fantastic. Easy to throw together. On a plus note for our Christmas dinner it was a festive red and green dish.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
Fantastic. I made these with the frosting and they came out exactly like the Little Debbie brownies you buy. Very dark, rich, and fudgy. They held together well and kept great not drying out.

Easy Morning Glory Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
These came out fantastic. I did make alterations though. I used 1/2 whole wheat flour, upped the baking soda by a 1/t tsp and instead of grated carrots (I was out of carrots) I grated sweet potato. Came out really good. I doubled the recipe and had enough for 48 regular size muffins (froze half for later). Thanks for sharing.

Pumpkin Apple Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
Really good. I didn't have enough apple so I added some raisins along with what apple I did have. We liked them:)

Oma's German Marble Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
This was really good, after following the directions I got the smoothest cake. The texture was fantastic, but mine was pretty dry. The recipe is good enough that I'll probably try making it again, the dryness may have been due to my error.

Pumpkin Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
More like a cake, than the bar I was looking for but they were still really good. My 3 year old loved these. The frosting recipe is good too. I'll make them again, but probably when I'm looking for a pumpkin spice cake, not a bar type cookie.

Apple Strudel Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
Very good. We liked these a lot, so much so that I tried making them without the apples and adding raisins instead. This was a mistake, without the apple they are way to dry to use as a "base" muffin recipe, but as the recipe is written they're very good. The topping is the best part!

Chocolate Mint Cookies I

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
These are soooo good! I honestly cannot say enough about these cookies. Mine baked up crispy on the outside, chewey on the inside. They are very chocolaty, good and rich if you have a craving! I didn't put the mint chocolates on top of mine, but instead I mixed in 3/4 of a bag of butterscotch chips. Fantastic. I think these would take other add-ins well.

Light Wheat Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
Great rolls! Nice and light, these came out perfectly. The dough was easy to handle also, kneeded well, and my 3 year old helped me make the balls to put into my muffin pans. We liked these!

Oatmeal Cake II

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
Very good. I used whole wheat flour (added an extra half tsp of soda) and added choc chips. I also took another reviewers advice and put on a crumb topping. I used an 8 by 8 pan, but baking time was more like 35 min rather than 25.

Eggplant Parmesan II

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2007
Good, and relatively easy to make. I like the eggplant, I acutally could have been content eating them after baking, before adding sauce and cheese.

Peach Pandowdy

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2007
Crust came out all wrong. It was more like a very dense cobbler. I was thinking I'd get a pie crust like topping, I may alter this until I get that. Good if you're in a hurry though.

This was a hit at a potluck I took it too. Easy and simple, used up 2 yellow squash. Hooray for that. I'll be making it again.

Jumbo Fluffy Walnut Apple Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2007
Moist, fluffy, very good. I'm keeping these. I substituted half the flour for whole wheat and upped the soda & powder by a half tsp each. They came out great!

Marchetti

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2007
Fantastic, good easy, enough for a 9x13. My picky three year old enjoyed this too. It's going to be a keeper at our house. I did, however, make some alterations. Having no tomato soup I used an 8oz can of tomato sauce and threw in some italian seasonings. Good.
