About this Cook
I am a single mother of 5, work full time and enjoy spending time with family and friends. Now that the children are getting older and I am due to be a grandmother this summer I hope to do some travelling!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook just about anything. New recipes are a joy for me, I tweak EVERYTHING!! I don't believe I have followed a recipe without altering it since I was 15. My favorite food to eat is Greek and Italian although I am Ukrainian.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love getting the kids involved in cooking and have done so since they could play with food. All holidays, or simply baking, I enjoy inspiring a love of cooking and healthy eating with my children.
My cooking triumphs
My first holiday meal, a Thanksgiving where I cooked for 20 people, turkey ham and all the trimmings.
My cooking tragedies
Meatloaf, omg meatloaf. I don't know what it is about this dish but I have tried a million recipes and it is terrible every single time. It is so bad that when my children were small "mom is going to make meatloaf" became a threat worse than "you are grounded or wait till your father gets home!" I would serve meatloaf and the kids actually cried! haha

Turkey Pot Pie
I made this today! I loved it but tweaked it. I had two cups of very yummy gravy leftover from Christmas dinner so I added that to the mixture once it was done for more sauce and flavour. Also added an extra 1/2 tsp of oregano, 1/2 tsp of garlic powder, 2 tsp parsley and 1 can of peas as I had no frozen ones. Sauteed some mushrooms with the onion, celery & carrots. Made an amazing pot pie that my family will be enjoying later tonight on a cool snowy night. Thank you!
