Ultimo's No-Bake Blueberry Squares

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2008
We served this for the 4th of July and our guests loved it; The fam can't stay away from it either! To fix the soggy crust I cooked the crust in the microwave for a 1 or 2 min. then froze while I preped the filling. (can't call it no-bake if you use the oven to bake the crust, now can you?) Only things I changed about the filling was using pwd. sugar (1/2 c.) and 1/4 reg. sugar. It was plenty sweet enough. Also added almond flavoring...personal obsession! :)

Japanese Peanut Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2007
This is probably our all time favorite recipe from this site, and I've tried many! I've been looking for a healthier sub. for our regular Ranch standby and nothing has quite stuck, but this was just perfect! My parents wont eat a salad without it. It has that perfect Asian/gourmet taste. It is perfect without those whopping 100 calories per 1 Tbs. of Ranch! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for this wonderful recipe! Note: I add ground ginger and honey to taste!

Glazed Corned Beef with Lentils

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2007
This was a great recipe! We especially liked the glaze. I used 2 Tbsp. honey mustard and 1 Tbsp. of the other. Cooked the beef in a crock pot for about 4 hrs. It was hard to tell if it was done, but after 30 min. in the oven tasted done. Not extremely tender, but good taste. I would afford more time if planning on using a crock pot. Sliced meat thinly after baking and drizzled glazed in pan over. Added potatoes and cabbage. Cubed and cooked all in the crock pot. Great recipe! Thanks for sharing!

Crunchy Wheat and Rye

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2007
This was such a wonderful bread! A great change and accompanied our St. Patrick's Day dinner beautifully! It is sweeter than normal breads, but everyone in the family liked it a lot. I'll be using this recipe again! One Change, I didn't have any Grapenuts, so I used 1/2 cup milled flax seed

Beef Samosas

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2005
Terrific recipe! My family couldn't get enough of them. My spice conscious sibblings loved them! I didn't have any potatoes so I used instant potatoes and just mixed them in! Was great! As for the dough, I used about 2 1/2 cups flour mixed with 1/2 tsp. ground cumin. Then added just enough water to make a really stiff dough. Then brushed it with oil and put it in the refrigerator for about half an hour. Rolled it out into a 8 inch circle cut it in half, then folded and pressed closed. I deep fried them. Truly wonderful! Thanks so much for the recipe Donna-Maree

Gulab Jamun

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2005
This is a spectacular recipe! I've tried several LOTS of different recipes from this site and this is one of the BEST! I didn't have any Rose Water or the nuts or raisins so I just left them out. Wonderful! Make sure you brown them enough in the oil so that they keep their round shape. Mine went a bit flat in the syrup. I used more ground cardamom too, my mom and I just LOVE cardamom! I will use this recipe again and again! Thanks for the recipe!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2005
This was a delicious recipe! I would give it a five star rating, but I made quite a few changes. I agree with other reviewers that said that it was a good "base" recipe. I made the following changes and it came out spectacularly! I added: 1 1/2 t. cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. ground cloves, and a dash of both ground ginger and nutmeg. I took this to a potluck and got RAVE reviews. Thanks so much for a wonderful recipe!

Apple Fritters I

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2004
I thought these were pretty good. I made a couple changes: I took some other reviewer's advice and added 1T cinnamon and I made the brown sugar sauce from this site and used it as a dipping sauce. Wonderful!

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2004
I'm not giving this recipe a three star because no one liked it, this is a great... cake recipe. I was expecting the usual fudgy brownie so this was a bit of a disappointment. I will make this again... but only if I want a cake. Thanks!

Apple Coffee Cake With Brown Sugar Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2004
This is a WONDERFUL cake! My family and I just loved it! 1/2 the cake was gone after being out of the oven for only 30 minutes! I used a different brown sugar sauce found also on this web site. DELICIOUS!!! I'm already being asked when I'll be able to make the next one! I used 1/4 cup Sour Cream, and 1/2 cup yogurt because that's what I had. And also I was hesitant to put a whole 1 1/2 cup sugar in so I put about 1 1/4 cup in. Thanks sooo much for the great recipe. Definitely a keeper!

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2004
I hate to give this a bad review, esp. after all the good ones. My family and I thought that it was just ok. They didn't taste very much like the mall! The dough was a little hard to handle for my brothers and sister and me too. We used our bread machine to make it. We put all sorts of toping on, but it just didn't taste all that good. You don't need to use the wax paper they work just fine if you put them on a greased baking sheet. They were good as bagels, but as far as pretzels go, I'll keep looking for a good recipe. Thanks anyway!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2004
These are soooo good! I would definitely say to try this recipe. I thought from the other reviews that it would be cakey, but it was fudgy and great. My family LOVES fudgy brownies. I reduced the powdered sugar in the frosting and it was great. To the brownies I added some broken up mint patties. If you like mint at all, you'd love this! The whole pan was almost gone after only 2 hrs. of being out of the oven!

Extra Easy Hummus

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2004
This is WONDERFUL!!! My family and I just love it! It's great that there is no Tahini in it and the ingredients are ones that I keep on hand all the time. I made it in only 2 or 3 minutes. I did add paprika and cilantro. EXCELLENT!!!

Blueberry Boy Bait

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2004
My family and I enjoyed this so much! I didn't put in quite as much sugar as was called for and we thought it was just as great. I don't think I would want it any sweeter. Just a note: the blueberries and strudel all fell to the bottom of the cake. I was using a bunt pan maybe that had something to do with it. One other suggestion, MAKE SURE TO GREASE THE PAN!!! Thanks for the great recipe. Fresh blueberries were great in it. I will be making it again.

Zucchini Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2004
My family and I thought that this recipe was just ok. It tasted a bit bland. They were pretty good if you put syrup and butter on them. It's a good way to use up zucchini.

Zucchini Bread IV

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2004
I thought this recipe was just OK. I didn't think it would have been very good if I had not make the following changes: I used 1 cup brown and 1 cup white sugar. Also I took another reviewer's advice and added both nutmeg and ground cloves. I did double the cinnamon which was good or it would have been had to tell it was there. I use 1/2 cup applesauce and 1/2 cup oil to substitute for the 1 cup oil. My family thought it was good, I just thought it was rather heavy in texture.

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: May 7, 2004
This recipe was great! I've been looking and experimenting with other recipes and this one is the very closest I have come to the restaurant version. A couple changes I made, I added some sugar, about 1 1/2 T. And also I did use coconut milk. Very creamy! One thing to be careful of is make sure that you use tomato SAUCE NOT PASTE!!! Or it will come out VERY tomatoish. Thanks for the great recipe!!!

Toll House® Mini Morsel Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2004
My family did like this recipe, though we thought they were just ok, nothing special. I did put extra milk in to thin it down and I think if I did make it again, I'd cut down on the amount of choc. chips. I mean it is breakfast!!!

Best Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2004
This was very good! I did not think the overall appearance was very good though. The frosting tasted great, but it looked very thick and was very hard to spread. It was a big hit with my grandparents who came to visit and my family, I just was not as impressed with the looks of it. Thanks for the recipe I'm sure I'll use it again.
