Grandma Johnson's Scones

I have made this a few times now. I now add a tablespoon of extract for flavor, (Almond is my fav, but Vanilla is DH's) plus all kinds of combinations of fruit, nuts and the kid favorite chocolate chips. It is pretty much fool proof. My family and friends love them. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe.

Chicken Salad Pitas

I ditched the cucumber (which I don't care for) in favor of melon and added feta cheese crumbles when I ran out of mozzarella.Kalamata olives are the way to go. Seriously good! DH devoured two in no time! Will make many more times!

Rempel Family Meatloaf

This was totally awesome. My husband and I loved it. It’s worth six stars. Changes: Used dehydrated onion flakes instead of onion soup mix. That reduces the salt and I didn’t have it. ;) Added 3 Tbsp of steak sauce instead of two, and used an 8 x 12 pan so we can remove it from the dish. Oh yeah, its meatloaf so we use our hands to mix it up. I definitely recommend using a 93/7 ground beef over an 80/20 as the cheese can produce a lot of oil and the very lean meat produces (shock) less grease. Super yummy. It is going in the file!

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

This was great! I made some replacements in the recipe because I didn't have some of the ingrediants. Added garlic salt and omitted celery salt. Used 1 TBSP Malt viniger and omitted lemon juice. The acids can change as long as one keeps in mind the strength and retains the correct ratios. WAY GOOD! YUMM!.

Beef Pepper Steak

This has good reveiws, but we were not impressed. Hubby didn't like it, and he isn't picky. The flavor of the steak was totally overwhelmed IMO. All we could taste was salt, no other flavors were evident. The Dad's Steak Rub from this site is much better. Sorry.

Dad's Steak Rub

OMG this was so easy and everyone loved it. It is the norm for our summer grilling now. Works on everything! Beef, Chicken, Pork, Salmon... It all tastes great! Add Mongolian Fire Oil to give some heat if you like it hot. Steller!

Perfect Sushi Rice

This tasted like it was from the reasturants. I fan the rice to cool it and stir very little. I think thats the traditional way to do it. It takes a bit of time but it sure works well. Yum!

375 for an hour comes out perfectly set. No runny middle. Do recomend cookie sheet under it for cleaner oven afterwards. Love it and so did family.

Depression Era Corn Chowder

This is a great basic recipe! It is good on its own and really shines when the "creative cook" starts altering, adding and tampering with it. I add tuna or crab or chicken... anything really!
