About this Cook
In 2003 I had an adjustable gastric band (lapband) installed. Installed sounds funny. Anyway, at the time I was 35 and had NEVER enjoyed cooking. since then it has become one of my favorite things and a relaxation. Who knew? I have let go of 160 lbs with the lapband and found that I love to cook! My lapband journey is at www.fisherchristine.addr.com/band.html
My favorite things to cook
Changes. I get on different kicks and get stuck on certain things for a while, then move on.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have just started family game night once a month and do a theme potluck. This month is German, which was very hard for me as a vegetarian : )
My cooking triumphs
Other people actually finding food that I cook to be edible!
My cooking tragedies
Learning experiences, not tragedies.

Fasoliyyeh Bi Z-Zayt (Syrian Green Beans with Olive Oil)
These beans were absolutely delicious. I used fresh and added a tablespoon of water to make up for the frozen ice crystals. I cooked until many of the beans were starting to brown. So good, I can't imagine I won't make this all the time.

Hot or Cold Vegetable Frittata
halved the cream cheese & left out the bread. i've made this 3 times and have never had leftovers! i just put some breadcrumbs on the bottom of the dish before pouring everything in.

Aaahh! Potato Soup
delicious! i sauteed some onion & garlic first & then added the rest. used an immersion blender to make it smooth before adding the cream. (+ used 2 cans of vegetable broth- NOT chicken- to thin a bit) very tasty!
