BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2011
My husband is a bbq snob and he never eats pork cooked in a crock pot. He loved this and ate two sandwiches. It's also crazy easy to make. I followed the recipe to a tee, except instead of baking it, I microwaved it for a couple of minutes because husband was about to eat his own arm and wouldn't wait 30 minutes.

Slow Cooker Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2011
Yuuuuuuuum. This is going in my regular rotation. Easy and delicious! I served it over coconut rice and I strained the juices and thickened with cornstarch on the stove. Sprinkled with peanuts.

Strawberry Pie II

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
Delicious! I followed the recipe exactly, except I used a graham cracker crust, which was so good. I've only had strawberry pie made with jello and this recipe is so much better.

Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo

Reviewed: May 28, 2011
This was definitely tasty, but it was honestly more like a stroganoff. I didn't really get the "alfredo" because the parmesan (and I used the real stuff) was so overwhelmed by all the other ingredients. But it tasted good! How could it not with all that butter and cheese?

Mom's Fabulous Chicken Pot Pie with Biscuit Crust

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
My husband is currently eating his fourth bowl of this stuff, no lie. I actually made the whole deal in my cast iron skillet--sauteed, simmered, added biscuits and stuck it in the oven. Turned out perfectly and made a neat presentation, as well.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2010
This thing was a crazy hit. I had to use a full cup of Franks's Red Hot, because once the cheeses and ranch were added, it wasn't spicy. And I'm a spice weenie. I took home an empty crock pot. People seem to like it the most when I use Frank's Buffalo Red Hot.

Hershey's ® 'Perfectly Chocolate' Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
I've made this cake for a few years and I love it! I won second place with it in the chocolate cake category (against a lot of other entries) at the fair a couple of years ago. Today I tried dissolving instant coffee in the boiling water for the the batter and warmed milk for the frosting. I will never do it another way! Takes it to a whole other level! For the people with the problem of the cake running over--are you sure you are using a 9" pan and not an 8"? But more than likely, your oven is too hot and your cake is rising too fast. Try splitting the cake up between 3-9" pans and bake for about 18 minutes, I think. I use a TON of Baker's Joy and usually parchment because this cake is so moist, it tends to stick.

The Best Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
I'm giving this five stars, but with reservations. When I checked it at 50 minutes, the outside was overdone and the inside was underdone. I covered it with foil to finish it, and I think that saved it. However, once I peeled off the burnt crust it was really delicious! I'm going to try it again but tweak the baking time/temp. I'm also going to try it on convection rather than convention. I used butter, a tsp of vanilla and four medium bananas.

Hamburger Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
This one wasn't a hit. I followed the recipe exactly and checked the measurements of the onion soup twice. I think that it reminded me of that diet cabbage soup that I ate too much of in high school, but with hamburger.

Pecan Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2008
I wasn't sure how great this would be, but I was sick of plain brown rice. It was great! I used the 2-1/2 cups water to one cup rice ratio and I used chicken broth in place of water. It was really delicious!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

When I first tasted this, I thought it was very good. Then I tasted some banana bread that I had been given that was probably made from a mix and I realized that this recipe isn't just good, it's outstanding! Will be trying as muffins soon.

Pretzel Turtles

Hooray for these! They really do take like, 5 minutes to make. I also used the Dove Chocolates with caramel and I stacked everything together pre-baking and it was absolutely a snap to just press the pecan down with the back of a spoon when they came out.

Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2007
This is outstanding--restaurant quality soup. The second time I made this, I used Honeysuckle White Italian turkey sausage and it was just as good and healthier. I want to try orzo next time. I'm sure I'll be making this every few weeks.
