Penne Pasta with Cannellini Beans and Escarole

Reviewed: May 18, 2005
This recipe is really good. I made some slight adjustments so suit my family. Added 1 small onion and 2 cloves of garlic (sauteed like advised by prior reviewer) also added a few shakes of crushed red pepper and topped with fresh grated romano cheese. Very good and REALLY, REALLY easy to make!! Thanks for a great recipe!!

Frogmore Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2006
I made this for a big family dinner with my relatives from Maryland (who are self proclaimed seafood experts). Everyone at the party had rave reviews and wanted the recipe. I made it exactly as written and it makes a TON of food. With 7 people we only managed to eat about a third of it and we had some guys here that can really put away the seafood. :) Thank you so much for this recipe. It is wonderful and super easy to make!! 10 ********** Stars!!

Pasta with Kielbasa and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2005
I was excited to try this after reading the great reviews. It is good not great. I probably won't make it again. I like kielbasa with sauerkraut and potatoes a LOT better and it is so much easier to make.

Sesame Green Bean Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
OK so I am torn on how to rate this recipe. It has LOTS of potential but as written it is just 3 stars. IMO ~ It definately needs crushed red pepper, fresh minced ginger and fresh minced garlic. I also think it is a little too much oil so next time I will cut back a little. With these changes and some fresh chopped green onions to top it off it is a KILLER 5 star recipe. Thanks for the post!!

New England Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2007
Perfect ~ I followed the recipe as written and they are not only easy to make but delish!! For those who opted to leave out the Old Bay and then leave a lesser rating ... there really is no substitution for Old Bay. If you are going to make crab cakes you really want to include it. I used a whole grain dijon mustard and Mmmmm, Perfect!!

Pasta with Grilled Shrimp and Pineapple Salsa

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2005
Loved this recipe .... with some changes. First of all I completely left out the pasta. I don't see any reason for it. Secondly, I did not grill the shrimp but as another reviewer advised sauteed it with some EVOO, garlic and about 1/4 cup of the juice from the salsa (there is a lot so it won't affect the taste of the salsa at all). Then served the shrimp with the salsa to top it off. It turned out absolutely fantastic!! ;O) Definately a keeper!!

Patty's Mashed Turnips

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2005
I have to admit I was a little leary about mashed turnips ... but they are actually very good. I think next time I will cut back on the liquid a little. They turned out a little too wet ~ so maybe a half of a cup instead. Otherwise they are a great addition to our recipe box. Perfect for a Atkin's friendly meal!! Thanks so much!!

Cranberry, Apple, and Fresh Ginger Chutney

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
Really, Really Good!! BUT... I think it works best as a cranberry sauce. I was looking for an actual chutney to serve as an appetizer and this was a little too over the top alone. I DO think it will be great with Thanksgiving dinner & I will definately on making it again!! UPDATE: OK so my bad!! It really does need to sit over night to chill and firm up a little. Next day = 5 Stars!! YUM-O

Basil-Tomato Tuna Steaks

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2007
OK, so I actually changed this recipe quite a bit to fit my needs. I sauteed the steaks in sesame oil about 4 min per side (thick steaks), Used diced tomatoes w/chili's instead of fresh and topped with Parmesan cheese instead of the Mozzarella. Mozzarella seemed way too heavy for delicate tuna. It turned out perfectly and saved my dinner since we were planning on grilled tuna steaks untill the rain started coming down in sheets ;). Next time I will try it exactly as written but it was great prepped with items that I usually have on hand. Thanks!!!!

Berry-Filled Doughnuts

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2006
We have been making these for years. They are so easy to make and lots of fun(esp with little kids). We also make the plain version ... use a soda bottle cap to cut a hole in the middle of the biscuit and then fry. After cooking, put them in a brown paper bag (the bag will absorb extra oil) with sugar and cinnamon and let the kids shake away. Fry the "holes" too, the kids think they are munchkins. This is always fun to do on snowy winter nights or for sleep-overs!!

These eggs are SO good. They add nice new twist to ordinary eggs. I added a touch of mustard to the yolk mixture to give it a little zip. This recipe is definately a keeper!! Thanks!!
