Book Three by MJ Allaire
About this Cook
I write young adult fantasy as well as young adult mystery books. I have three children, all adults now (2 boys, 1 girl) and have done my share of cooking. Although I am divorced and remarried, I don't cook much anymore as my husband is a FABULOUS cook! Every once in a while I give him a break in the kitchen, and I love this website!
My favorite things to cook
Chicken cordon bleu New England Clam Chowder Scalloped Potatoes and Ham Chicken Pot Pie Dirt Pie (Oreo Cookie Pie) Banana Bread
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mom used to make french meat pies when I was growing up. I used to pronounce them Toutkay, but later, as an adult, realized it was actually spelled Toutierre. I make them every year for Christmas
My cooking tragedies
Once I made a homemade chicken pot pie when I was trying to eat healthier. Instead of using Crisco in the recipe for the crust, I used Butter Buds. The filling for the pie came out fine, but the crust (top and bottom) were both hard as a rock. My first husband was NOT happy with me for ruining his favorite meal. I think we had it over bread instead :)

Chicken Cordon Bleu II
Made this tonight for dinner and, believe it or not, it was my very first time making it (I'm 45). It came out FABULOUS! Instead of making it with chicken breasts, I made it with thighs (my husband and I both prefer dark meat). It made it a bit challenging to roll the chicken up, especially for some of the smaller pieces (they looked like chicken tacos lol) but they were just as good as those that wrapped up nicely. My husband is a fantastic cook and, I'm proud to day, he LOVED this! Thank you for sharing it - we'll definitely be having this again!

Skillet Summer Squash
Made this tonight to accompany chicken cordon bleu - it was great. The only difference was I added about 3/4 cup chopped yellow peppers to mine. The peppers sweetened it a bit, and I thought it was fabulous! Thank you for the recipe! I'll definitely be making this again!

Banana Bread - Quick Bread for Machines
I added about 1/2 Cup of mini chocolate chips to mine and ended up baking it about 75 minutes in the bread maker, but it came out delicious!
