Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
The chicken came out dry and the skin was gooey. I used carrots, potatoes & onions in the bottom of the slow cooker instead of foil and added about 1/2 c. of chicken broth. The vegetables were good - the chicken really wasn't, though.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread II

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2011
This bread was so delicious and moist. I halved the recipe because I only needed 1 loaf. I also dusted my pan with cinnamon and subbed sour cream for mayo because it was all I had. Otherwise, I made it as is. It took about 60 minutes to cook completely. Will definitely make this again!

Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
My 6 year old adored this recipe and asked to add it to next week's menu. That's rare from my picky little guy! I did change the recipe a little bit. I upped the parmesan to about 1/3 c. I also added Italian seasoning, garlic powder & onion flakes. I dipped the chicken in the egg, in the crumbs, back in the egg, and back in the crumbs for a thicker crust. I cooked it on a cooling rack on a cookie sheet at 375 for 40 minutes. Came out perfect. I will make it again, but I will probably play with the spices a little more.

Super Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
This is a great recipe. Everyone I have ever made these for loves them. I do make a few changes to the recipe. I use barbecue sauce instead of brown sugar, prepared mustard instead of dry, fresh chopped garlic, a few dashes of hot sauce and omit the Worcestershire. I also mess around a little with the amount of each ingredient, adding a little more of this or that until it tastes just right.

This tasted so strong of onion soup mix. It was just way too much. I won't make this again.

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
Let me preface this by saying, I do not like sweet potatoes so I actually didn't eat this. However, my entire family did and they all loved it. My mom made me promise to make this for every holiday from now on. This recipe was a total hit and it was pretty easy, too.

This was OK. I used white chocolate chips because the store was out of vanilla.

Overnight Blueberry French Toast

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
I made this for Christmas morning this year. I prepared everything the evening before and it was very simple. It took maybe 10 minutes. I did half the cream cheese, using only 8oz and probably used more than a cup of blueberries, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. It smelled delicious baking the next morning. And the sauce was SO easy and delicious. Everyone LOVED this and went back for seconds. I will definitely make this again. It's perfect for holidays or when you have visitors.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
This was SO easy and resulted in the most flavorful and moist turkey we have had in years. I have never made a turkey before but I decided to give it a shot after suffering through dry turkeys prepared by those who shall remain nameless for the last several years. Many suspicious looks were cast my way as I made this (especially because I omitted "the bag"). But when the turkey was done and on the table everyone raved about how delicious it tasted and I was thus elected to cook all future turkeys =)

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
I'm rating this on behalf of my family because I do not eat stuffing. But I did make this for Thanksgiving for all the stuffing lovers. It got pretty good reviews, though it was a wee bit dry (I did not stuff it in the turkey and used extra stock instead). However, with some gravy over it everyone said it was perfect.

Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
This is a pretty good mac & cheese. It's not as creamy as I prefer, but my 6 year old son adores it so this is the recipe I most frequently use. In order to retain some of the moisture, I bake it covered for about 20 minutes and then uncovered for another 20.

Czech Roast Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
I made this for Christmas Eve. My grandpa was Czech and his roast pork, cabbage and dumplings was a family favorite. This was my first time doing a roast pork and this recipe was pretty simple. It tasted very similar to Grandpa's roast pork and was very moist and flavorful.

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
I made this for Thanksgiving. It was the first cheesecake I ever made so I was nervous about getting it right. But it was actually really easy. The only thing I did different was to use pumpkin pie filling instead of all the separate ingredients. I also set aside 1.5c of the cheesecake batter and spread the rest into the crust. This made the layer of cheesecake about the same as the pumpkin layer. This got rave reviews from my family, including my brother who doesn't like sweets. I'll definitely make this again!

Chili-Lime Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: May 10, 2004
This was a great recipe! We marinated the chicken for about 3 hours and it came out perfect! It stayed moist and was also very flavorful and had just a little bit of "kick." We made our kabobs with red onion, green bell peppers and pineapple and served them with rice pilaf... Will definitely make this again!

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

This turned out really well! It was very flavorful and easy to prepare. My husband and his visiting friend both raved about it! And for me, I just melted a little Swiss cheese on my sandwich and it was absolutely perfect. Definitely going on our list of "regulars."

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

A very tasty recipe! It was definitely a hit at my house. We just tried it last night, but had some extra chicken left over. My husband suggested having the left over chicken in a salad which I think I'll do!!
