Pesto Polenta Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2006
I used Arrabbiata sauce, which added a little spiciness. I thought this was an excellent main dish particularly given its simplicity. My husband liked the pesto/Arrabbiata mixture, but not the polenta.

Super-Good Oatmeal

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2006
If you don't normally like oatmeal, you probably won't like this recipe either. For me, it isdelicious, and the wheat germ provides a wonderful texture. Use the honey at your discretion. I only use 1.5 teaspoons. This is the only way I make oatmeal now. Thanks.

Sugar Cookies X

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2005
Excellent cookie. Light, crisp, and delicately sweet. I followed one of the reviewers suggestions and used about 1/4 cup less vegetable oil. The dough is a little sticky -- not a problem for adults, but maybe problematic for children. Thank you. This is the perfect cookie for me.

Central American Tacos

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2005
These were really good. As others suggested, I cut down on the potatoes; I only used one. The tomatillo guacomole is an outstanding combination with the homey potato/onion/hamburger filling. I was too cheap to buy 3 avocados; I only used one and the ratio with the other ingredients was great. I did not use a blender for the sauce, just finely chopped everything. Really good. Thank you!

Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2005
We really enjoyed this; although we initially felt it was missing something -- the addition of some cayenne pepper seemed to do the trick. I served this soup with warm flat bread. It was a simple, yet satisfying meal.

Indian Tandoori Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2005
Thank you very much for this recipe! I marinaded it for 24 hours, scraped off all the marinade , and then cooked in my Romertopf clay pot for about 45 minutes at 480deg. The chicken came out perfect. I almost didn't add the food coloring, but I'm glad I did because the finished product looked exactly like what it looks like in restaurants. My husband declared it a success. I'll be making this again and again.

Indian Dahl with Spinach

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2005
This recipe is missing something. If you look at past reviews, you'll notice that most of the reviewers who enjoyed this dish made some modification. I recommend following some of this past advice. I felt that the dish lacked depth, not heat, but something else -- carmelizing the onions might help. My garam masala may not have been of a very good quality.

Avocado Salad with Orange-Wasabi Glazed Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2004
First of all, like others have mentioned, I had trouble with the glaze. I tried twice. The first time, all the water evaporated, leaving a crispy, sugar powder. The second time, I didn't let it get to this point, but the resulting glaze was too watery. This stuff is my fault. I'm sure that making a caramelized-glaze is one of those things that I should have learned in home ec. But there are major problems with the ratios of ingredients. The orange actually overpowers the wasabi! I increased the wasabi by 5 times, and the orange was still overpowering. I would probably only use 2T to 1/4 c of orange juice. Also, the sauce is much too sweet. At least in these proportions, the sugary-orange wine glaze does not compliment the wasabi taste. The orange/wine glaze is really delicious, though. I gave the recipe two stars because this combination is so unique that I'm sure that just a few changes could make this a really wonderful dish -- just not in its current form.
