About this Cook
I'm short, sweet and cute I'm also an Aries in the worst way
My favorite things to cook
I love home cooked american meals. Haven't really dabbled in much other than Italian as far as foreign cuisines go. I've been wondering about that. Maybe it'll change soon. Although, I do make some mean Build Your Own Taco's.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Well a few friends and my boyfriend and I have created at "Not Family" tradition. Every year around the holidays a bunch of us get together and have a "Not Family" dinner. We have one for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We started calling it that because we usually do the real family thing on the holiday but a week before or after we have our "Not Family" celebration. That title came from only having friends there but they were close enough to be family except they weren't therefore: "Not Family" was born.
My cooking tragedies
Trying to make an Aioli and making mayonnaise. Failed miserably at that.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue
I used a barbecue sauce that isn't my favorite, but this recipe was still good. I had two HUGE frozen boneless skinless chicken breasts and made the regular amount of sauce. While they were cooking there was barely enough sauce to cover the breasts, so I don't know how I was going to be able to fit 6 in there. If they were smaller and thawed you could possibly jam them in there. Maybe the author of the recipe can add another measurement such as lbs, oz, ect. so that we have a better idea of the volume that's needed. But this was ok for me to have extra sauce cause I like my BBQ pretty sloppy. :)

Baked Apple-Pecan Maple Pancakes
This is a go to recipe for me when I have guests over or my boyfriend and I want pancakes. I've used almonds and add a little brown sugar to make them sweeter.

Melt in Your Mouth Marinade
I made this marinade but I 'beefed' it up a bit. I followed the recipe but I substituted 2 TBSP minced garlic from a jar and 3 TBSP prepared yellow mustard. On top of the recipe I added; 1/4 Worcestershire sauce, 1 TBSP McCormick Grill Mates Montreal Steak seasoning, 1 tsp Salt Free Garlic & Herb Mrs. Dash and 1/4 Cup Kraft Sweet'n Sour sauce. I bought a bulk pack of pork chops from the grocery store and used this marinade on them. I put the pork chops in Ziploc freezer bags and used 1/4 cup of marinade on each, then I put them in the freezer. I use this technique for all kinds of meat. I put marinade in the bags with the meat and put them in the freezer. Then I have stuff ready and flavorful so I can just take them out the night before. I only had 7 pieces and I still had some marinade left over. 1/4 cup was enough to cover the chops plus some, so, if you used a little less per chop you could easily marinade 10 pieces of pork out of this recipe w/ my additions. I put a pair of them in the fridge right away and made them the next night. They were AMAZING!!! Sooo good. They weren't super chewy but not melt in your mouth either. Not too salty either. Great recipe. I'll save this one. :)
