About this Cook
I love to cook and entertain family and friends. I recently retired from a successful "corporate" career and went to culinary school. I honed many of my quantity cooking skills at church. I plan and prepare meals for 60 to 200 guests each week. I am starting to cater and love doing afternoon tea for any occassion.
My favorite things to cook
I am known healthy, homestyle meals that are delicious to eat and beautiful to look look at.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom, daughter and I like to make homemade pasta or ravioli several times a year. I love cooking with family. I also like to make recipes from my childhood. It can be a challenge to decode Grandma's recipes!
My cooking triumphs
Making corned beef and cabbage (with all the trimmings) for 175 and have it taste like homemade! Also, teaching my daughter how to make Pomme Anna and watching her face when it came out of the pan looking picture perfect.
My cooking tragedies
Timing - Serving luke warm food to a large crowd. I didn't time the parts of the meal correctly.

Grandma Johnson's Scones
This is a great recipe - with just a few changes. I cut the sugar down to 2/3c. I use currants or dried blue berries and fresh grated lemon peel or raspberried with white chocolate chips. I make them small (24 scones). You can put the dry ingredients and butter together the night before. It makes the last minute prep so much cleaner and quicker.

Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies II
There cookies are wonderful. I formed them with an ice cream scoop and cooked a bit longer. Definitely let them cool on the cookie sheet or they will fall apart. Better and chewier the 2nd day.
