Soft Molasses Cookies V

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2012
These were super soft and had good taste. I did not refriferat the dough at all and still had an easy time rolling it into balls. I am used to a bigger cookie though, so next time I will make them a good golf ball size. I added raisins and a touch of ground cloves for extra flavor and texture. Thanks for the recipe!

Fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2011
Terrific! I will never, ever, buy pre-made mozza sticks again! I did not use pre-packaged cheese sticks, instead I just cut up a large brick of mozzarella cheese and it worked just fine. The important thing is to coat them really well to avoid "leaking" and remove them from the oil very quickly. Thanks for this recipe!

Kielbasa and Cabbage

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2011
I have made this a few times now and it's delicious. A diffrent, easy dish for a quick weeknight meal. I toast the caraway seeds before incorporating them to the dish, to get more flavor out of them.

Spooky Witches Fingers

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
These were amazing! Almost too spooky looking to eat, but that's the point... I used raspberry jam (seedless) for the "blood", put a drop of it directly on the tip of the finger before baking and pressed a slivered almond in. The result was perfect!

Drunken Dogs

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
This was terrific and oh so easy! I used cocktail smokies and they split lenghtwise, probably because I let the liquid boil too much. I will be more cautious next time. To thicken the sauce, I let it simmer uncovered for about 15 min. It turned nice and sirupy, yum! Thanks for the recipe. It's a keeper!

Galaktoboureko

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2010
This was excellent but myself and all of my Greek in-laws agreed it was a bit too gritty. I will try it again using a bit less semolina and a bit more milk. (maybe a tad more cornstarch to compensate for the missing semolina). I added the juice of 1/2 a lemon to the water/sugar syrup to cut a bit of the sweeteness.

Sausage-Filled Stars

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2010
I made these in mini muffin tins and they made a great appetizer for my super bowl and new year's eve parties. I used phylo dough instead of wonton wrappers, using 2 layers of phylo which made the tiny cups super flaky. To fit the dough in the mini muffin tins, i used a shot glass to evenly tuck the dough into place. worked like a charm! I did not use the ranch dressing and the filling was still super tasty. Thanks for the recipe!

Better Than Sex Cake II

Reviewed: May 2, 2010
WOW! I made this for my husband's birthday party and everyone LOVED it! I loved it because it was super easy to make on top of tasting amazingly decandent. (I used chocolate fudge cake mix) I put the candy bars in the freezer while preparing the cake, found this made them easier to break. Also, I put those crushed candy bars all over the sides of the cake: I took handfulls of candy and pressed it gently aginst the sides of the cake. A bit of a messy process, but definitely increased the wow factor.

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
These were just ok for me. I needed more lemon flavor. Perhaps using real lemon juice vs the bottled stuff is what was missing? I also would have liked them thicker. I may try them in a 9x9 pan instead of 9x13.

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
These were tasty, pretty and easy to make. I put the dough in the freezer for about 45 min. and had no trouble rolling into balls. To get the cookies coated in sugar, I used 2 small bowls and a few cookies in the bowl that had the sugar then dumped the whole thing in a second bowl and went back and forth a few times. Piece of cake. I would have liked the cookies to have more chocolate flavor. Maybe next time I will add chocolate liqueur or even more cocoa powder. The texture was wonderfully chewy on the inside, even after a few days. Thanks for the great recipe!

Perfect Apple Pie

This really is the perfect apple pie. I made my crusts using the recipe on the shortening package and followed the pie filling recipe to a T. It was a total hit. Thanks for the recipe!

Kabob Marinade

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2009
I have now made this recipe twice and it is terrific. First time I followed it exactly, except for the meat tenderizer. 2nd time I used 1/2 the amount of oil and it worked just as well. I always marinate my meat is a ziploc bag so I don't need as much marinade.

Blender Hollandaise Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
if the rating was based only on ease of preparation, this would definitely get 5 stars however as is, the final result not thick enough for our liking and we did not care for the dijon. I will absolutely try it again but without the dijon and find a way to get it thicker. I hate complicating this sauce since the beauty of it is that it doesn't have to be cooked but I think to get a thick sauce I'll have to cook it and add a bit of cornstarch or flour.

Breaded Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
Terrific! This is so simple and easy. I followed the receipe excatly, except for the way the brussel sprouts are actually cooked, and everyone loved it. I always cook my veggies in the microwave. Just a quick trim and then I throw them in a plastic container with about a tbps of water and steam perfectly in the microwave. This recipe is easy enough for every day, fancy enough for a special event. Thanks for the recipe.

Lemon and Cilantro Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
This was a good base for my shrimp pasta dish. I used 2 lemons and it was excellent. Can't imagine it with 6 lemons. I added some asparagus cut in bite sized pieces and would have added mushrooms if I had them on hand.

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
Yum, yum, yum! In reading the ingredients, I thought this would be a bit too sweet, and I did cut back on the sugar just a bit. It was perfect. Everyone loved it! I will cut back on the amount of cranberries next time and will look to add some sort of cheese. Maybe a nice creamy neutral goat cheese that can take on that yummy dressing. Thanks for the recipe!

Savory Roasted Root Vegetables

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
Wow! I know it's just a bunch of root vegetables, but this was really good. I am not a big fan of beets but the veggies just go so sweet, even the beets weren't well, "beety"... I made a huge batch and served it at Christmas diner and people loved it. The color was beautiful! The only change I made was to omit the chick peas and add parsnips. Thanks for this great recipe!

I was looking forward to these so much and was terribly dissapointed. I followed the recipe exactly and they just taste terrible. I love Bloody Mary. Love tomatoes, celery salt, everyting. But it just didn't work. Great concept though.

Cinnamon Coffee Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
Good but not great. The only change I made to the recipe was to use raisins instead of nuts. I did not find the coffee flavor to be noticable nor the overall taste to be anything more than plain.

Grilled Tilapia with Mango Salsa

Yum! I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out great! I prepared the salsa and started marinating the fish 2 days ahead. Will definitely make this again and want to try it using pork chops or pork tenderloin.
