Bierocks (German Meat Turnovers)

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2008
I should have read the other reviews before I made these. Followed the recipe and they were blah. Didn't use caraway seeds. Used frozen dinner rolls, they were easy to roll out. May try again with some suggestions from others. Thanks

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
Oh my! This was probably the best apple crisp I've ever had. I halved it, used Gala apples and sprinkled some nutmeg over the apples. I kept eating small spoonfuls of it, and didn't want any supperl. Thanks for the post.

Simply Marinated Mushrooms

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2007
These were wonderful, but had way too much parsley. I marinated them overnight, then made a new batch of marinate, leaving out the parsley and lightly rinsed the mushrooms to get rid of some of the parsley. Family loved them. Would make again but with just a sprinkling of parsley.

Uncle Bill's Chicken Strips

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2007
Wasn't too impressed with this. Taste was good, but I couldn't get it crispy. Put it under the broiler but that didn't help. Probably won't make again.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2007
This was yummy. Followed recipe except I browned my roast first. I used an eye of round roast. Juice wasn't real strong, husband decided you could always sprinkle in a package of au jus mix the last hour or so. We will make this again.

This was yummy. Never heard of butter flavored extract, so don't know if I miss it or not. I made mine in a bundt pan, and it was enjoyed by all.

Best lamb I've ever eaten. Followed the recipe exactly except I rubbed a little olive oil on it before I salted and peppered it. Will always use this recipe for leg of lamb. Thanks

Hash Brown Quiche

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2006
I've used this recipe for years for our family Sunday morning breakfasts. The trick to the hashbrowns is to thaw and drain well, then squeeze in a paper towel to remove all the moisture. Add what seasonings you want, press into the pie plate, and bake for about 25 min. or until they start to brown. Then add whatever other toppings you want. I use deep dish pie plates, so I use 5 or 6 eggs. We love ham, green onions, mushrooms and pepper jack cheese. Try this, you will like what you can do with it.

I'm not sure where I got this recipe.I thought it was from here. Its awfully sweet for me, but the kids and grandkids prefer it to regular syrup. It keeps well in the fridge also.

Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2005
These needed lots more salad dressing and mustard. I also added about 1/2 tsp. of cider vinegar and some horseradish. Crumbled bacon is also good in them.

Fabulous French Loaves

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2005
Thirty years ago I made French Bread regularly. This recipe is much easier than my old one. I never use bread flour so used plain and I used olive oil. Mainly I wanted to see if these old hands could still knead dough. Good recipe Liz! Will make this again.

Homemade Noodles

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2005
My mother-in-law gave me her recipe for homemade noodles many years ago. It calls for an egg, plus a half an egg shell of milk, salt and as much flour as you can mix in. This is the only noodle my husband will eat. They are a little firmer than store bought, but delish.
