Grilled Fish Steaks

Reviewed: May 9, 2006
YUM!!! My husband actually did the cooking this time (1st time he did it right) and it was amazing! He grilled halibut outside and our grill is hot so he put it on medium temperature - he followed all the directions - except we were out of basil (fresh and dry) so instead of using the basil and parsley, he just put in 2 tsp of Italian Seasoning. It came out perfectly - expensive restaurant style. Much better than my usual pan fry in olive oil, garlic, and lemon juice. I highly recommend using this recipe.

Peanut Butter Vegetable Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2006
I used Wyler's chicken broth granules and Skippy natural creamy peanut butter. Instead of measuring the green pepper and zucchini, I just added the whole thing. It took longer than the suggested time for my veggies to cook. Before adding the PB, the soup looked so pretty and already tasted excellent! But, I added it, and I am glad I did - it has that Thai look to it, but the flavor just adds a sweet richness - not really a peanut butter flavor at all. Something different than I'm used to, but excellent! My mom, who is very traditional in her foods, even loved this!

Mrs. Sigg's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2006
Yummy - smooth, rich. I halved the recipe, used butter and no crisco, skippy natural. I guess I like the heartier chunkier pb cookies like the ones at whole foods - these were very good though if you like the smoother cookies.

No Bake Cookies III

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2006
I used to make these all of the time in high school, never knowing if they'd set up or continue to run right off of the counter. These set up very nicely. I added less oats, threw in some graham cracker crumbs, coconut, and more peanut butter. For my tastes, I will add more chunky peanut butter next time. Overall, I was impressed at how quickly these cookies set up!

A to Z Everything-but-the-Kitchen-Sink Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2006
Very tasty. I made them much larger than the walnut size recommended, and that way they didn't flatten like the smaller ones. Bake until you see the light brown edges. They're not good when the whole top is golden brown looking, too crunchy. I will make these again, but use wheat flour, raisins instead of the chocolate chips, and maybe another kind of fruit or nut. The chocolate was good in them, but with the other ingredients, it seemed like it should have been a healthy, hearty cookie instead.

Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2006
This is so good! I used yellow kernels and popped them in the air-popper, just one batch, and then followed the recipe, a little less salt and baked around 50 minutes or so. It was as close to Garrett's as I've ever come - and I've been trying for three years! Seemed to help when I stirred quickly instead of carefully at the 15 minute intervals since the caramel hardens quickly.

Cranberry Salad II

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2005
Awesome! I got lots of compliments at Thanksgiving by people starting with, "I don't normally like cranberry salad but this is really good, could you give me the recipe?" I used sugar free raspberry jello and also 3/4 c of sugar instead to lighten it. Also only used 1 cup of hot water.

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2005
Yayyyy! I just went to a hog roast - the meat was tough and I thought tasteless. It left me craving good luau style pork, which is what I thought the hog roast would somewhat be like. I've been to Hawaii many times and the Luau meat is the only pork that I truly enjoy-I'm quite picky about my pork. After reading the reviews, I added 2tbsp of liquid smoke and a little less than 1 tbsp salt. After waking up this morning and trying to flip it, it seems to have already shredded itself in the process of flippipng! It's so yummy that I accidentally ate it for breakfast (along with some nutella puppy chow-oops). It's not exactly the luau meat, but close enough - I'm impressed, and it was so easy. I will be making this for parties and tailgating. Thank you!

Peppermint Patty Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2005
I thought it was rich but not the right mix of flavors. I usually really like mint chocolate things. I halved the batch. Mine were easy to remove though. I guess I just prefer a caramel layer to a mint layer in my brownies.

Lentils And Spinach

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2005
I took the other suggestions and it was exactly what I was in the mood for! I substituted a 28oz can of tomatoes, added a can of spinach, a tsp of chopped garlic, and lots of cumin. It took quite a while (over an hour) for the lentils to soften, but it was worth it. Yum!

Ranger Cookies III

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2005
I brought these into two places. Some people absolutely loved them and went crazy and asked for the recipe. That's why I gave it 5 stars. For my tastes, next time more oatmeal, less flour, some cinnamon or some type of spice for flavor, and chocolate chips. Personally I'd give it a 3-4 but enough people loved them. I made them huge and smashed them down and cooked them for about 18 minutes or so. They looked awesome and baked perfectly.

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2005
I think this was good, but personally prefer walnuts to pecans in carrot cakes (didn't know that until now). Also prefer frosting with more cream cheese and less butter. The cake wasn't as moist as I like either. But it does have a nice flavor for what it is.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2004
I substituted a cup of raspberries instead and ran out of regular flour so I used cake flour. Made it very delicate though. Excellent. Next time I'll use more than a cup of berries and make less topping.

Seven Layer Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2004
Yummy. Followed the recipe exactly. I took this to work one Friday at about 2 in the afternoon after people had already brought cinnamon rolls AND donuts and they still polished off the whole pan! I should add that I think only 10 people were there that afternoon!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2004
The banana bread turned out beautifully and had the perfect consistency. However, the taste was dissapointingly bland. I tried to ignore the other reviews and make it as directed, but it could use much more sugar. I will make this again with the added sugar and I think it will be a five star recipe for my tastes. For now I think we'll cube this up and dip in in chocolate fondue to add sweetness:) It's a shame to waste such a beautiful banana bread.
