Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2010
I didn't have 8 hours, so I cooked a 3 lb shoulder roast in the oven, covered, with 2 cups Rootbeer, and cooked it at 350 for 4 hrs. The entire roast was INFUSED with rootbeer (adding a wonderful sweetness, almost candied flavor to it). I then decided to make my ROOTBEER BBQ SAUCE with it! It's soooo good and if you are looking to serve a new flavor of pulled pork sandwich, TRY IT! COMBINE ALL INTO SAUCEPOT & SIMMER FOR 20+ MINUTES.*I sometimes have to add cornstarch/water to thicken this, as it's originally for BBQ Ribs* •1 cup root beer •1 cup ketchup •1/2 cup orange juice •3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce •2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice •2 tablespoons brown sugar •1 tablespoon honey •1 clove garlic, minced •1/2 teaspoon lemon zest •1/2 teaspoon onion powder •1/2 teaspoon ground ginger •1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper •salt

Restaurant-Style Coleslaw I

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2010
I use the store-bought angel hair cut coleslaw mix. I only use 1/2 the bag, use regular white vinegar, I grate onion & carrots into it & it's GREAT! I've been using this recipe for well over a year and everyone says it's EXACTLY like KFC's, some even say it's better! :)

Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2010
After mixing the can of soup with the noodles & tuna, it was SO thick! So I took the advice of one of the reviews and added a couple big spoonfuls of sour cream to it, and also sprinkled some of the grated cheese into it. (Put the rest on top as directed) Also, I didn't put it back into the oven with the FF onions. Would have made them soft doing that! My family enjoyed this, but the amounts really only serve 4 people.

The Best Bean and Ham Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2010
Made this using kidney, pinto, black & northern beans, cause I don't like lima or peas! :) And I'm allergic to celery, so that was omitted. Other than those changes, this turned out DELICIOUS!! **Start this soup EARLY, cause it's gonna take 10+ hours to cook!! My husband put the lid on the pot for the last few hours and that really helped speed up the tenderizing & evaporation. I know it looks like a lot of ingredients, but MAKE THIS SOUP!! It will be worth it! :)

Three-Meat Stromboli

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
We used the frozen bread dough, but thought it was a tad too thick & doughy in places. We will remake this, but use pizza dough instead. Great recipe tho! **we halved this recipe, since we aren't a family of 32. lol

Cheddar Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
I was looking for a new way to serve potatoes and this was a nice change. My family liked the sour cream in there, which made it better than just plain mashed. This is entered into our rotation of side dishes! :)

Cobb Salad Ham Roll-ups

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
Made these for Super Bowl Sunday. Even tho I'm not a huge egg lover, I was very geeked to make these by rollng them up in flour tortillas and serving them! They were good...interesting I'd say. The egg was a little overpowering tho, so next time, we'll cut back a little on that part and add more bacon. Making them the way we did, fed WAY more than 4 people tho! We made 2 rolls (burrito size tortillas) and one would have been enough for 4 people.

Shrimp and Feta Cheese Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
Reading reviews, we used crushed tomatoes instead of fresh. My husband thought this rated an 8.5 out of 10. Me and my stepdaughter thought it was "shrimp spaghetti", and just gave it a 6. I didn't add 6 oz (a whole container) of feta cheese either, as it would have overpowered the entire dish! Thanks for the interesting concept tho!

St. Louis Toasted Ravioli

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
I think should I ever have a crowd over for dinner, this would make a great appetizer! Maybe put out different sauces...ranch, pizza sauce, as well. My entire family enjoyed the cheese ravioli's, however, I also cooked up some beef filled ones. They did not go over as well. We will probably make this CONCEPT again, but try our hand at making homemade ravioli's.

Fruity Sweet and Sour Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
It's pretty sweet! My husband enjoyed it, but I just thought it was okay. This does taste good with eggrolls, but I'm looking for maybe a recipe similar to this, but maybe use a tomato sauce or ketchup next time. (trying to duplicate a local chinese restaurants flavor) As far as the directions, I thought I messed up, but it turned out fine. I just took all 6 ingredients and combined them at the same time and cooked them on low, stirring constantly, until it turned thick. Thanks for a good start to what I was looking for! :)

Fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

Yep, just make sure they are coated twice!! Also, we think the sticks should be cut in half previous to coating/cooking. Better finger sized.

Dill, Feta and Garlic Cream Cheese Spread

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
I agree with most reviewers on this one. Too thick, too garlic-y. Add sour cream, lose at least 1 clove of garlic. Good basic flavor though!! Just needs tweeking to your tastes.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies II

These came out very dry. Not sure if it was due to me overcooking them, or the recipe instructions. Regardless..I will find a different recipe for these. Sorry!

Tuna Noodle Casserole III

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
This was pretty good for a basic Tuna Noodle Casserole recipe! My family didn't rave about it, but I will say my son had 3 servings and the whole dish was eaten by the time dinner was over! I added 1/3 cup milk, 1/3 cup sour cream and 1/3 cup cheddar cheese, simply because the ingredients sounded like it would be pretty bland without these. I also topped it with some broken up potato chips.

Grilled Flat Iron Steak with Blue Cheese-Chive Butter

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
This was restaurant quality meat!! Easy recipe but tasted like I slaved all day! Followed the directions exactly and my husband and I absolutely love the consistency of the steak, mixed with the melty blue cheese/chive butter atop the slices! Excellent recipe & I highly recommend this for that "special night" with that special someone! They will be impressed!
