Broccoli Coleslaw

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2013
I made this recipe for labor day. I left out the sunflower seeds and also used apple cider vinegar as someone suggested. OH AND.....I made twice the amount of broccoli, only used 3 "stems" of green onion instead of 2 bunches but the same amount of vinaigrette. Everyone LOVED it! The ramen noodles weren't crunchy at all.I thought it was a little too sweet...that may have been the apple cider though. My husband said he thinks the sweetness offset the raw broccoli harsh taste. everyone asked for the recipe!

Ghirardelli® Classic White Chocolate Creme Brulee

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2013
The taste is amazing!! The only problem is the amount for me was off. It said it would fill four 6-inch ramekins. I only have 4-inch ramekins so I thought it would fill more, but it only filled 4 of them. I followed the recipe exactly.

Jo Jo Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2011
EXCELLENT RECIPE! The taste was very good but not overwhelming. For the people that said the flour got lumpy, that happens when you get too much egg in your flour. Keep one fork for tossing the potatoes in the egg, (1 or 2 at a time) make sure you drip some egg off as you toss them into the flour.

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: May 12, 2009
My mother in law requested I make this for mother's day. She asked what lemon filling I used...I told her "my own!" and she couldn't believe how perfect it tasted! **a few tips** Make sure you whip the wgg whites until soft peaks form (not just when they are foamy)...it takes longer if you put the sugar in too soon! Also, I put the meringue on when the lemon curd was still hot, waited until the pie was completely cooled before I put it in the fridge....then took it out after 4 hours and it was weepy and the meringue pulled away from the sides. But the taste was amazing!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
I only have one apple crisp recipe I use but thought I would try another one just to see. The only change I made was I only used a half a cup of the white sugar. THIS WAS SOOOO GOOD. This is my new favorite crisp recipe. The topping never got gloopy, really kept it's shape and when reheated tasted like cobbler. mmmm yummy.

Bread and Celery Stuffing

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
I halved this recipe since I only had a half a loaf of bread. The taste was great but it was gummy and parts of it were kind of hard and stuck together. We still ate it and I will probably make it again but maybe I won't cook it for as long as I did and increase the liquid perhaps.

Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2009
I used corn instead of peas and carrots and real mashed potatoes instead of the instant. My husband and I LOVED this!

Hot Cocoa Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2009
This was a very expensive recipe to make. While I originally liked the idea of giving out a mix I made I felt like I was just mixing things that I could have just bought and given to the people. The taste was great but I don't think I will make it again.

Mini Cheesecakes

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2009
I made this recipe for Christmas and everyone LOVED it. I put some melted butter in the crumbled vanilla wafers (I was afraid they wouldn't hold up if I just crushed them) and used strawberry and cherry pie filling.

Honey Graham Crackers

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
Maybe I have to try this again. The first attempt yielded cookie like wheat crackers. The ones I didn't sprinkle with cinnamon were kind of bland. Maybe I didn't roll them out thin enough? I rolled them to 1/4 before baking.

Moroccan Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
I don't care what this soup is named...it was SOOO GOOD! Instead of trying to "fix" this recipe to make it traditional Moroccan (as other commenters have done) why don't they just post their own moroccan soup recipe?!

Stuffed Shells III

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2008
Everyone LOVED these! I'm such a dolt, whenever I made shells in the past I used to cook the shells as if I was eating them at that moment, which made it A LOT harder to fill. I followed this recipe and cooked them AL DENTE. PERFECT. I also used a ziplock bag with a cut in the corner to fill the shells. So much easier! Putting cheese into the sauce made it so GOOD. I cannot tell you how awesome this came out! I will make this every time I make shells in the future!

Friday Night Veggie Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2007
I have to note that I'm not someone that needs heavily spiced foods yet this was still bland for me. HOWEVER, I froze this soup in small freezer bags, and as I defrost them I add cayanne pepper, cumin, and fresh cracked pepper and it's better...I won't ever make it again though...sorry!

Maple Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2007
The taste of these panckes was good but I don't think I'll ever make them because they were so thin. I tend to like thicker pancakes...but it's my fault! I shouldn't have made this recipe (I read the reviews that said they were thin and made them anyway)

Pomegranate Jelly

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2007
My friend and I made this. We didn't have a "hot water canner" and improvised with this metal thingy with a handle that we put at the bottom of a big stew pot. I would recommend investing in a canner, however since we burned our fingertips a bunch! Other than that this came out VERY GOOD! We followed the instructions on the liquid pectin stuff just to make sure it came out properly set. That meant keeping it at a rolling boil for a full minute. In fact, after we put in the two pouches of fruit pectin it stopped boiling! AHHH! we waited until it boiled again, then timed it. We thought we ruined it but it was perfect! ***UPDATE*** I bought a canner (SO MUCH EASIER THAN LAST YEAR) and made this recipe again....it came out AMAZING, AGAIN!

Luscious Apple Trifle

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2007
This turned out VERY GOOD! I will make again. Instead of Angel food cake I made a white box mix cake. I also used non fat cream cheese and cool whip. I didn't think it would be pleasant to crunch into apples when you were eating a mooshy trifle so I took the chopped apples and cooked them with some brown sugar and cinnamon in a pan just until they were soft.

Mel's Magnificent Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
THE BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES YOU'LL EVER MAKE. I had to put that in caps because I'm SO serious. I didn't have enough butter so I used half butter flavored crisco and half butter. DELICIOUS. ***NOTE: I thought 12 servings meant a dozen cookies. Aparently not, I doubled the recipe and got 70. YES, 70. I used one of those medium pampered chef cookie scoops so they were all measured evenly.

Country Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
The taste of this was very good but I think if I were to name it I would call it Cinnamon Swirl cake. It was like those cinnamon swirl breakfast muffins. I think I was expecting something that was more like bread. Still VERY good though!
