Great Nana's Secret Ingredient Date Nut Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2012
Great recipe! Not sure what the issue was with the reviewer who indicated that the recipe is "tempermental." I followed the directions to the letter and had no problems at all - it is fairly easy to make. I did withhold about 2 tbsp of coffee at the final mixing stage, based on other reviews indicating that the mixture was too thin. I believe it would have been fine to add it and would have made this great bread even moister. The coffee flavor adds such a nice touch. Yummy and wonderful, especially for the holidays. Thanks for sharing this, Lauren!

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2012
Very tasty and not too difficult to make. It takes a little time to bake and scrape the pumpkin, but the results are worth the investment. It is MUCH better than a pie made with canned pumpkin. This pie keeps extremely well. I made it 5 days ahead of Thanksgiving and it was still delicious on the big day. Strongly recommend fresh whipped cream to accompany it. Will definitely make this again.

Doug's Easy Applesauce

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2012
Excellent, easy to make. I used a mix of Gala and Macintosh, just happened to be what I had on hand. Did increase both the cinnamon and sugar to suit my own sweet tooth. All of my family loved it!

Chef John's Perfect Prime Rib

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2012
Perfect, and so easy. Echoing other posters, do not open the oven, not even just a tiny crack. Highly recomend watching the video; even though the recipe is simple, there are a some very helpful hints (such as the salt...) I used pepper and rosemary in the rub. My roast was still a tiny bit frozen in the center, so I increased cooking time by 10% (33 minutes vs 30) and that did the trick. Also made Chef John's au jus which is simple and very delicious. Thanks, John for a wonderful Christmas Eve meal!

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2013
Great recipe! Have made it 3 times. Very delicious, soft and light compared to most wheat breads. Even messed it up once, by forgetting to allow it to rise in the pan, and it still produced a tasty (though much denser) bread. Love the fact that it makes 3 loaves, plenty to share with family and neighbors, or freeze for later. Delicious and simple. Can't go wrong, so long as your ingredients (such as yeast) are fresh. Have another batch in process right now.... Yum!
